Most people, like me are "mutts". Roughly in order of % Puerto Rican, Irish, French, Cherokee, German, Scottish, Welsh and Nordic. Just saying at one point in time we were all brothers and sisters and at one point in time my ancestors fought their own brothers and sisters.

I honestly cried watching that young girl in the pageant. These people have had their land, language, culture and personhood stolen from them, but are fighting to reclaim it. In that pageant, even if to a smallish audience, the young girls were not judged by their appearance but rather performing their traditions to others who will appreciate them, keeping them alive in the process. May they all have bright futures.

Abandoned Indian. I almost started crying when she said that. My great grandmother was full blood Native American, but she was so ashamed of it that she burned all her papers that connected her with any reservation. A lot of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren have done research to try too figure out at least what tribe she belonged to, but there are a lot of reservations in New Mexico alone. I just wish I could understand where I came from and the beautiful culture my great grandma left behind. I don't think I have enough native blood at this point for it to matter, but my brother and I keep looking

My grandma's grandma left her husband and children in AR ,,,,hoping for a better life for them. She went to a reservation in OK. When my grandma was about 8-10 years old they traveled by covered wagon to OK. So HER mom could visit her mom. It was done over several months. My granny said it was a wonderful time for her.

I'm English and visited Canyon de Chelly in 1989. I was at the river near sunset and about to walk back to the top when a group of Navajo of all ages started to descend the side of the canyon while singing. Their song echoed and resonated around the canyon in a sweeping sound and remains one of the most beautiful and evocative things I've ever heard. Somehow it felt like a people reaching across the ages to the heart of the human condition.

Hey! During COVID, Radmilla Cody holded classes for young students where she reads to them virtually and she has key Navajo words that she phrases out in the meetings. I recommend that and if you’re able to, take classes from community colleges; I am starting late on learning Navajo and thankfully my school has Navajo classes. Schools include: Maricopa CC, ASU, UofA, NAU, schools in Utah, UNM, other schools in NM, and even Stanford! There is also textbooks to follow along online and you can get Rosetta Stone. I wish you good luck on your Navajo language journey 😊

Reminds me of when I was a kid in the 80's. Would go to Chinle and Many Farms, AZ. My family lives off the rim of Canyon De Chelly. Actually called Canyon Del Muerto. The best summers I ever had riding in trucks through the watery canyon and hiking. The nature and wildlife was spectacular. BBQ's and camping was so fun. My Grandpa Nelson Draper was recruited off the Reservation and joined the US Marines in 1942. His Brother Teddy Draper and Himself were Navajo Code Talkers in WWII. Upon his discharge from the US Marines he moved his family to California where I was raised. Grandpa worked a Civil Service job at a Marine Base in Barstow, CA. My wife is Navajo from Shiprock, NM. Those summer vacations in the 80's were some of the best times of my life.

I was there at Canyon de Chilly last week on May 13 and May 14. Love the Navajo people. Stayed over nite at Navajo town Chinle. Learned so much about the history and culture. Kind people. Inspiring. Beautiful country. If you are touring, take the four hour Jeep drive . They also sell beautiful Navajo jewelry at the valley.

Finally I found a video about Navajos. I’m full blooded Navajo. They talk about the other tribes a lot but I love those videos too since it helps educate me more about other tribes out there not just Navajos. I’m so glad they spoke the native language. I speak it half fluently and understand it half too. Unlike my brother and sister who didn’t get a chance to learn from our grandma like I did since I was very set on learning everything I could when I was younger. Now I’m sort of the translator for them on things I understand, like stories others tell. my grandma said that it’s good that I al least know how to introduce myslef in Navajo and that I know my clans and that I can talk in Navajo with confidence and not be embarrassed about it. Like all the other kids.

I knew instantly that was The Canyon De Chelly, one of the most beautiful places on earth! Love Lukachukai, my husband and I attended my Navaho girlfriends wedding in a hogan, in Lukachukai in 1996, some of my favorite memories are hiking with my children and mom to bottom of canyon, it is so beautiful, rain came down and the rocks shimmered colors that mesmerized my young son’s. I sincerely hope that lovely princess’s dreams of her grandchildren come true, her voice and singing are incredible, I could listen to her forever!

This land belong to the Native American. I'm from the Pacific Islands living in this country which not mine but belong to these beautiful native Americans. I know that the spirit of their ancestors are with them as long as they keep their culture alive. The little girl in the video singing, even though I dont understand, I feel something very good. To all Native Americans, thank you for living your culture. You are amazing.

This gives me hope for the future generations to learn from humanities past mistakes in ridiculing different cultures. Hopefully future generations will be more accepting to others and not want to repeat or pasts mistakes.

this movie touched me very much. I often had tears in my eyes. I hope this family knows how strong they are and that they will never give up on being how they are like. They know whats worthfull for them and they involve it in their day every day. What a difference to a lot other people from Europe or else.

I am from Mongolia and just visited the canyons few weeks ago and saw the natives. I felt a sense of connection with them that I couldn’t explain. Perhaps way long time before, our people from central asia migrated up through siberia-alaska-canada and eventually down in the states can help explain the connection. I want to learn more about the natives as they didn’t teach enough in grade school... my respect goes out to the natives and their beautiful culture that I somehow feel such deep sense of connection with.

What an amazing opportunity it is to be connected to your family in this way. Many of you who have kept good family lines are blessed. I'm so grateful for coming upon this video not only because of the beautiful young ladies but also because I just came through Arizona and met some wonderful Navajo I stopped at the Trading Post what a beautiful well-organized friendly environment We each have spiritual gifts many of these things are built around our wounds and once we have healed them we're able to help others on their healing Journey what this video has just done for me is filled in a blank that I could not understand but that was a wonderful idea and it turns out that I was definitely attuned to what is expert knowledge to the Navajo and their ancestors their way of life Such a beautiful voice thank you so much for sharing And before I go I want to share something I had two vision that the plants should be planted in circular motion starting from the center outward and then I had watched a video later maybe a few days after this knowledge was given to me and I had heard from a Navajo Elder that this in fact was the proper way to plant according to the Navajo people perhaps it was just him or his clan I was very pleased to hear just as I was to learn that melons warranty drone on the Navajo land because when I drove through that is all I could smell 30 years ago I had a daughter and her father's best friend from childhood what's Navajo and it was very important to me at that time that he be her Godfather so he was I wish I could say hello once again have no idea where he is perhaps the wind will carry my wish to him
