So, this orchid uses a way similar to a pitcher plant, luring in insects with its scent and dropping them in a pool of liquid to keep them from flying away. However, the orchid doesn't intend on killing the bees, but rather to force them into pollination, whereas pitcher plants use the same fluids to slowly digest their prey.

How do they know what to do? Think about it : All creatures are programmed by ATCG as computers are programmed by 1010001000, the answer is clear! If we know there's wisdoms in the programmed Gene, then the answer is there-who's the programmer?

@@familykeepersca great question but I’m sure answers will vary tremendously. I think it’s up to each individual as to WHO their programmers are or how they know to do what they do. 👍🏼

slight correction- the flower is not pollinated by the "bee falling into the bucket". It has to go through the same steps escaping through the tunnel ,to attach the pollen sacs to the stigma.

Being carnivorous would kill the pollinator, and thus prevent the orchid from reproducing. Carnivorous species are usually found in nutrient-poor soils where their food supply ends up being insects. I think in these rainforests, the soils are pretty rich.
