He's just a really weird guy, I think. Everything he does in this episode reflects less the simple drive for fame that so many on this show seem manipulated by and more a simple willingness to do stuff. If there's one thing Nathan is great at, it's finding the weird side of people. Let us never forget that one guy that got naked and positioned himself in a hotdog outfit.
