Also, from the bottom of our hearts, we say thank you to the studio (OTH crew, writers and producers) for believing in them and creating a unique, stable couple to root for throughout the show's run consisting of 9 seasons. They understood that they were special and didn't need separations for them to be interesting and dynamic. Thank you to James and Joy as well for their professionalism and care. I'm an adult now and still grateful for the fond memories when I was a kid. They don't do ships like this anymore.

It's peak nostalgia. Haley helped Nathan find his better self and we see how screwed up he was in season 1. Nathan had the best character development on the show. Imagine if he was the headcoach of the Ravens in the sequel, it'd be a full circle moment because he went through so many hardships to get there. He would be a mentor to the new generation of basketball players. He would sort of become the new coach Whitey of the early seasons (or a modern version like Ted Lasso), full of wisdom, compassion and wit. I hope James can come back to see that happening.
