That's multiple times now I've heard Mack talk about Cogs' speech before game 6. Probably a big reason he is still with the Avs not to mention he took broken bones for the team and absolutely played his heart out. Multiple times in the playoffs the 4th line was the only good line for COL and it was obvious they brought the rest of the team up with their energy. That 4th line was huge for the Avs, O'Connor came in a quarter of the way through the playoffs and ended up staying the whole time beating out Aube-Kubel for the starting lineup.

All the Avs players in interviews talked about Cogs speech. That must of been impressive and moving.

On top of that it was always Cogs as the first one outside of the dressing room in the tunnel psyching himself up, like a pre-game ritual, seen it many time in the playoffs this year, great veteran leadership, him and EJ were both hungry for it this season.

It’s crazy how much the supporting cast contributed. Cogs, helm, Compher, Manson, EJ, and Lehky were all over the ice keeping constant pressure on the other teams regardless of which line they were facing. Byram literally went from getting more toi because of the Gerard injury to being the best player in the finals. The Avs were unstoppable with that depth and production.
@marie2274

@@t-fly8132 Great insight... The Avs desire to win the Cup was amazing. To watch Nichushkin play with a broken foot. To actually need medical staff to put his skate on.. To hear Bo Byram was possibly hanging up his skates because of concussion history. I wouldn't be surprised hear more injuries to the Avs players. Cogs had a broken hand but came back in a week. Kadri a broken thumb in two places to come back. I had a broken hand it didn't heal for 8 weeks. What a team of amazing men.

Oh the room number thing makes much more sense now. So ppl that dont know during the on ice celebration someone said to nate while he was being interviewed that it was the room number so basically nate goes all finals without talking to his friend syd n calls him after game 5 loss n gets a 87 room assigned to him in Edmonton for game 6 which he took as a sign. Cause yeah otherwise without the timing of that phone call was like wtf so anytime 87 shows up it means good luck to nate or what but this makes it make much more sense.

Had the Avs won game 5 the same way as 6, Tampa would have ended the season under the false belief that “the altitude” cost them the series. The Avs proved that was nonsense in the 3rd period of game 6. Even so, the celebration would have been epic. I wish Tampa would have at least put up a feed of Ball arena.
