If you’re not doing it already, the best thing you can do is choose a player that you really admire and learn their songs and solos extremely well. Try to guess why they make the creative decisions that they make. You’ll improve a ton from focusing your efforts in that way.

Hi Nathan, you might be rusty after all of that time, but if you played through high school, it shouldn’t be hard to get back up to speed. Knowing how to read music should help. If you can play by ear, you’ll get up to speed very quickly.

You can learn pretty quickly if you’re taught the basics, especially if you’ve played piano or another instrument before. Just play around and explore the instrument when you’re starting out.
