Its the lyrics especially for me that makes this brilliant tune so magical . Coupled with the sublime musicianship ,its as fresh today as it was when first written 50 years ago .Quality always ,always outs ! The Band ... peerless!

After just watching "The Last Waltz" the other night, these guys' version of this song is a great tribute to the Band. I'm glad to see someone keeping their music alive, and doing it well.

The back story is that Rateliff wanted to go off in a new musical direction from what he had been doing. So he told a pal of his that they should do music like The Bands "The Shape I'm In." They recruited some guys and formed the Night Sweats and the first song they did was "Trying So Hard Not To Know." It never got major play or big acclaim off that albume, but if you listen to it, it is so much a tribute to The Band. Balls out Soul!!!!!!!!!! and the opening riff is from "The Shape I'm In." From acorns, Mama, large trees sometimes come.

I don't think a bad performance is in this band. every song in every venue, inside and out is spectacular. I love there style.

The Band was an amazing band and Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats are more than qualified to do this song justice.

Agreed. Levon Helm and Robbie Robertson would be proud. RIP both of them.

INCREDIBLE… Completely obsessed with that rasp in his voice and how it’s like Mumford and Sons with soul & a little blues. Oh man, it’s not talking shit if I’m part of the generation, but I was starting to lose faith in our ability to create without just re-generating someone else’s genius. ⬆️ Them & a very small handful of others restore my faith in our generation a little lmao unfortunately for me we’re definitely no 70s but they’re unbelievable!

WOW, well done by a great bunch of musicians. Bravo!!! Absolutely superb music when the core of Rock and Roll, the current pop rock, has become a waste land. Thanks, guys,

Saw them two days ago in Chicago. They performed this song during their encore. A great show, all the people on the main floor of the Chicago Theater (can't vouch for the balconies) stood the entire time that the full band was on the stage, jumping, jiving, swaying, and dancing.

In my opinion, there are only handful of bands that are qualified enough to cover the band songs (this includes Levon songs) and the night sweats meets that bar. Amazingly does this justice. It’s not on par with Richard, but fucking great in its own way. I don’t want to see Eric church covering songs from The Band or Levon, I want to see more night sweats covering their songs. But that’s just me, and who the fuck am I? Music is subjective, to each their own.

That crowd sucked! How can anyone listen to this song or any song by N.R.&N.S. and just be 'meh'?! I can't even imagine what kind of horseshit music they listen to. Unbelievable. The real world just passes them by with their faces are stuck to their phones. #fuckoff
