I remember a green star in Shiverburn Galaxy that required you to get a cloud powerup and then go through a good deal of the level without spinning because that would activate the clouds you needed to get the star. It was such a pain in the neck.

Absolutely agree. This, and the second green star on Flip-Out Galaxy were killers. In that one, you are being chased by the stupid men, and I could not get the long jump from the blue to red walls without getting hit by the closest man following me. I get that some of the jumping ones are hard, because of the camera angle, and the inability to see 3D that well, but they just take repeated work. The Shiverburn one is tough, because getting through the lava level without giving up too many clouds, or getting hit by the spitting rocks, is tough. You can do the green star with one cloud, but having two makes a big difference. I did this game when it came out in 2010, with the exception of star 242, and did it again this week, 14 years later, having not played in between. At 62, I can still do the game, but I don't think I can get through the Ultimate Galaxy without getting hit at least once. Congrats to all of you who managed to get that level done!

Weegee's ability is useless in the first game and not as useless in the second game. mario's jumps are usually high enough but Luigi's jumps are slightly more efficient ocassionally

Ah man, you brought back some painful memories; I managed to get 100% completion, but my best friend, sister and I (we all worked together to get perfect completion) agreed that the Green Stars were probably an afterthought from Nintendo, considering how annoyingly-placed they are within 3D space. I might have to say the one in Bowser's Galaxy Generator that requires you to have all three clouds was pretty challenging... until I read somewhere that you can actually just crouch-walk across one of the background sections...

If any of you haven't gotten 100%, I sure hope you'll make the effort; once I beat the Perfect Run for the first time, I was able to consistently do it again so much that it annoyed my sister, but the initial payoff was immensely-worth it! Definitely one of the best completionist rewards I've seen in a Nintendo game.

For the green stars, I switch over to Luigi. For instance, in number 7, you can just back flip off the edge and spin jump since Luigi has a higher jump. This goes for many other green stars, even getting the comet medal in the second last galaxy in world S.

For me personally, green star #2 in flip out galaxy, was BY FAR the HARDEST for me to get. Took me 400 times to get it because towards the end, the cosmic clones kept smacking me while trying to jump up off the walls, which caused me to fall and die.

So, here's the thing. I am working on my 242 run right now. I have gotten all of the stars on the list. Here are some tips and tricks to getting these jewels. 9: Just z-jump on the very edge of the spring. Don't go outwards. Still make sure to spin-jump though. 7: Use first person mode to get yourself on the corner, as close to the edges as possible. Turn around, and z-jump towards the star, with a spin jump at the z-jump's peak. 6: Get Luigi, and z-jump right underneath the star, and, with a well timed spin-jump, you should get it ezpz. 5: Use Luigi and z-jump with a spin under the star to get it. 4: Jump over the enemies. 3: make the Whomp crush when its standing underneath the star. Stand on the z-crush symbol on the Whomp's back. While it starts rising, z-jump and spin to land on top of the Whomp. Jump off it's.. head? I dunno, it's whole body is basically a near-flat head with feet. Anyways, when you jump off it's head, you should be just underneath the star, ad grab it easily. Good luck with your hunting! -Xtra

Also I see a lot of people mentioning Flipsville Galaxy Green Star 3. All you have to do is get on the underneath of the planet with the third star, and jump for a leap of faith. this is not that hard when you actually pay attention to how you are lining up your jumps. I also think Fleet Glide Galaxy Green Star 2 should be on this list. It took me a very very long time, and about 25 lives to find this star in particular. (Which is to the left side of the 2nd falling pillar near the end.)

Xtra Shot the main problem with Flipsville #3, like you indirectly said, was because it's a leap of faith, and you have a tedious platforming section between the last checkpoint and it before you can take another try.

Oh boy... Considering the fact that one of the green stars requires the use Luigi to obtain, all of your "star is too high" problems are just for Mario. And there are easier methods of getting these stars. Throwback: Instead of wall jumping off the Whomp, Triple jump off of him and spin. Stone Cyclone:Don't triple jump in the tox-box's movement area, go from the ramp. Haunty Halls: Do backflip spins while you're facing the boos, and if you miss the star just ride the other platform to the start of the first platform and don't turn around. Puzzle Plank: Just see where you think the peak of the spring jump and time it instead of going from sight alone, to line yourself up so that you're facing one of the blocks... faces, then try doing a backflip and hold the direction your facing for the whole jump and you should go forward only a little bit because of the momentum from the backflip (unless I'm thinking of Mario 64 lol). And for motion control levels, you only need the WiiMote, so just use both hand on it if it helps reduce any shaking. Use Luigi just in case since his jump is higher, but remember to be careful of one of the many banes of ProtonJon's existence: SLIPPERY SHOES!!!

well rip it has a secret star or the normal does and it is even harder then both of them combined you need at least 2 clouds at the end of one of the runs which i dont know if level locked or not and you need at least 2 cliuds to get pretty high and the jump have to be crouch upwards jumps where you stand still crouch then jump 3 makes it easier since you can get up there easier

I actually never thought your Number 4 and Number 3 choices were that hard. I was always good with the rolling ball (I got that Green Star in 1 try), and with the Whomp, you can let it fall down and stand on it, and when it tries to stand back up, just jump to land on its head.

Number 7 you can use the zoom to look through Mario’s eyes to locate the star. I also found it easier to triple jump from a diagonal facing the left corner from where you first stand on the block. Got it first time this way.

10 - It is not too difficult. It did take me a couple of tries to get onto the platform but I can always try again but I understand your reasoning 9 - I did not find this very challenging. It only took me 2 attempts to get it. What I did was ground pound from the very right of the spring, wall jumped off the block and spun jump. Then I backflipped off. 8 - Very easy. Even if u accidentally killed the enemy, u can still do it. What I did was from the very right, I did a triple jump and wall jumped off the wall on the left and I got the star. 7 - It actually was not too hard from me. It took me 2 tries. I triple jumped at an angle and launched into the air at the very top left corner so I could angle my spin jump. 6 - Not too hard. What I did was I find a safe spot where I wouldn't get squashed close to the green star then I did a triple jump but it took me a couple of tires. 5 - I actually did it on my first try surprisingly. 4 - This took me about 10-15 tires to get. You have to roll at full speed but there are bombs and goombas in the way. Ugh! 3 - Not as hard as u made it out to be. I stood in the spot where the green star would be and wait for The Whomp to come (the whomp will always walk around in a circle) and I would use it as a platform and do a triple jump so I can gain enough height. It took me a couple of tries to get. 2 - This would be easier if we didn't go as fast as we have to. 1 - I understand where u r coming from but for me, the only problem are those Circle of ocotboos but I never had a problem long jumping to the star I would put Green star 3 in Molty Moster and Flipsville galaxy

I have a trick for this green star- use a second player to stop the ball when you near the star (yes, the second player can do that). This will give you enough time to ajust yourself so you can get the green star.

Guide to all 10 stars in this video (from 10 to 1): Star 10: Don't jump onto the purple platform, just run onto it. Position yourself in the middle then jump into the star. Star 9: Ground pound onto the trampoline. Move away, then spin and move into the ? block. Wall jump and spin onto the block. Back flip then spin to get the star. Star 8: He forgot a HUGE aspect to getting this star. You can triple jump, just start from all the way to the right. Wall jump off the dirt and grab the star. Star 7: Start on the 2nd yellow row on the path to the green star (It goes Green, Yellow, G, Y). Start a triple jump, and time it so you'll do the triple jump on the 1st green row when it switches. Make sure you're in the very middle, and grab the star (spin recommended) Star 6: Start on the path perpendicular to the green star. Do a triple jump to grab it. Simple. Star 5: Start into a triple jump as soon as the boos appear. Make sure to stand on the moving platforms as LITTLE as possible. Spin recommended in case you just miss it. Star 4: If you miss the star, you can get another try without dying my continuously jumping up the ramp on either side while moving up. Remember: The ball CANNOT grab the star, only Mario's or Luigi's hitbox can! Star 3: If you position yourself carefully, you can stand on the top of the thwomp when he rises by standing on his back, and moving towards the top while he's rising. Use this to your advantage then jump into the star once he stands under it! Star 2: It's a lot easier than it looks. Just take it easy and don't rush it. Star 1: Long jump towards the star while standing on the north edge of the snake blocks. Spin is very recommended.

It took me more tries than any other star aside from Spiny Rainbow Romp and Luigi's Purple Coins (and the Ultimate Test/Perfect Run, of course).

Getting used to the gravity will take a little bit, especially since it's different between levels, it's also a little more linear than 64 & Sunshine but not as linear as 3D Land & 3D World. Both Galaxy games are a blast to play, though the motion control levels are hit & miss, and the environments are gorgeous even though it's on the Wii. Galaxy 1 was also the first Mario game to have a fully orchestrated soundtrack so at the very least listen to some of the music. :)

I didn't struggle with the boo moon one as much as this one). That Freezeflame galaxy Cloud Mario green star. It's pretty much The Perfect Run training. You have to do one of the missions like halfway through without getting hit ONCE AND preserve all(or two if you're good) of your clouds through the whole thing. It's really easy to get hit and be forced to reset. I took half an hour ish to get it.
