Great all except the fact he didnt show the way to remove the pump leaving it in situ in its bracket as he mentions u need to do when it is to be refit. Ive done a couple of these but I dont recall the unit being held in by something towards the rear with the 2 locking clips released. Memory failing I must be getting old haha

Hi Nathan, My fuel gauge is saying there’s a small amount of fuel left (warning light on). But it’s actually ran out of fuel. It’s made my breakdown already, so trying to get it fixed. My idea was to look inside where the fuel pump is located and see if anything is loose are broken? Fuses are okay. So hopefully thanks to your video I’ll get this issue sorted this weekend! Thanks!

that's the other pump in your tank called a siphon or suction pump. that needs replacement as well

Hey Nathan my radio and amp was working then I was messing around in the trunk with the amp and now radio and amp stopped working. I've checked fuse in trunk and fuse in glove box all were good. Is there any other fuses that needs to be checked for this problem

Considering Labor and parts is $1700 the average charge for fuel pump replacement having the tank cleaned filter replaced and two camshaft sensors replaced. Im not sure if my current shop is just digging in my pocket or if this is the going price. Any help will be highly appreciated thanks

My mechanic last time change fuel pump...after that im notice my fuel consumption has become more than usual...and i smell fuel around back tyres...but inside the car no smell...i came across this video to do by myself..what i found is fuel leak badly ...my mechanic didnt knock tight back those clamp...luckily i realise them quick..otherwise can be worst...

Hey Nathan, I've got a 97 e39, was replacing the fuel level sensor and realized that the iron that connected the level sensor and the fuel transfer line has rusted away. Would you inform me of the purpose of the connecting iron and whether it needs to be replaced

crud and water stays at the bottom. clean it out so you won't sabotage the new pump

I have an e39 528it. is the fuel pump in the wagon under back seat as well or in the back cargo area? Also, why do you have to remove/siphon gas, do you still have to do if tank is on E anyway?

Yes, the fuel system on the Touring is the same as it is on the sedan/saloon.

Thank you for taking the time to help us sir, really appreciate, my car hesitates from the stop and it stalls at the stop, many times it wont even start from the first time. I changed the fuel filter and the same, I cant believe that Bmw dint make a valve attached somewhere so we can check the fuel pressure, they do have but only from the 09/1999 to 2001. I am assuming that its the regulator but not sure...

I get p0171 (fuel trim) and trans fail safe

fuel trim is a vacuum leak, and the trans fail safe needs to be addressed quickly, check the trans fluid with the car running and you need to get one of the $40 scanners to check the trans codes, creator i310 off ebay and the $6 adapter to hook it to the round service port under the hood, do not drive in trans safe mode you will ruin the trans

If you don't spray it with wd40, chances are that it will spin together with the fuel pump assembly and break it. Ask me how i just find out 😅
