You will get two completely different reactions from the people when you tell them if you are Indian or Pakistani. We have maintained the idea of secularism that our ancestors have been following since thousands of years but you went on to create as Islamic republic. You say that the minorities in India are mistreated but the stats suggests otherwise. While the population of other communities in Pakistan is decreasing day by day, their Indian counterparts are enjoying a significant growth in population. If you have read about the Harappan Civilisation that you must know the Gods they worshiped, the traditions they followed? We still haven't forgotten our ancient past. And yes I agree that Hindu, is just a name given to the settlers occupying the banks of Indus(sindhu) river. We are Sanatan Dharmi, a massive group of polytheistic people. Hinduism is a way of life no one is forced to follow any certain dogmatic traditions or cultures. We are free to choose of what we want to become whom we want to worship. That is why there are so many Gods in our culture. Freedom and secularism has been a part of our culture for thousands of years. We have been invaded so many times by orthodox islamic rules yet they failed to convert us even when they successfully converted most of the middle east because we love freedom and we don't want to be bounded by dogmatic laws or believing in just one God.
