Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau is the national anthem of Wales. The title - taken from the first words of the song - means "Old Land of My Fathers" in Welsh, usually rendered in English as simply "Land of My Fathers". The words were written by Evan James and the tune composed by his son, James James, both residents of Pontypridd, Glamorgan, in January 1856. The earliest written copy survives and is part of the collections of the National Library of Wales.

While yes I vow to thee my country would be good, it’s still a more somber tune like we have now so would it not be nice to amp it up a tad notch and really go ham with proclaiming ourselves the best? Without a doubt it would be hilarious in a football game as a country sings its anthem all peaceful and calmly followed by a little bit of silence to let it sink in and then all of a sudden the trumpets roar to life as everyone’s deafened by the bombastic glory of the British Empire (it would probably feel as flabbergasting as Azerbaijan’s national anthem feels).

Up the Welsh although grew up in midlands my mother was born in Wales in the mining village near port Talbot. In those days when mines closed down they had leave for else were to find work. So if you hear midlands accent don't think some don't have Welsh blood in them. I have always been very proud to be of Welsh blood .AN love the anthem fantastic.

The most inspiring national anthem there is.. and coincidently the first time Wales played the all blacks the response from the Welsh captain at the time to the haka was to sing the Welsh national anthem and as the Welsh captain stood alone singing the Welsh anthem the crowd eventually joined in and sang it with him and .. it was the 1st time any national anthem had been sang at a sporting event that went on to pave the way to other nations doing it themselves .. and that is why at all international sporting events today countries sing their national anthem.. started by the Welsh rugby captain many years ago..
