Thank you for your service to what should be a dignified and respectful industry. Great video and channel, sharing your insights and experience. I’ve always been fascinated by the industry. I can tell that you’re a passionate and caring professional person. I completely agree with everything you’ve brought up. I live not far from the funeral home involved and this home has been dodgy for years and it’s scary. When my relatives pass I want to be confident that they will be looked after in a respectful and loving manner. It’s shaken local residents to the core, let alone the poor families affected and my heart goes to them. Thanks again and I’m behind you all the way … as a concerned member of the public.

On a happier note. In the Highlands, an old lady phoned a FD saying she was dying and asked if he would sell her car to pay for her funeral. He did. There was quite a few bob left. She'd told him to keep the money. He regularly went to her grave for a long time with flowers until the money ran out. I only know this because my niece worked with him. Here's hoping things are regulated and monitored. Thank you for your video and go easy on your arm.

When my husband passed I had never had anything to do with a funeral I had no idea what it cost etc the funeral director was so nice right down to saying please pick the cheapest casket as it’s cremation very nice it was in the end after everything was included crematorium hearse pallbearers celebrate etc the cost was £1750 which I think was a good price

Michael..... Absolutely spot on... as usual. I'm all for surprise visits for any organisation.... It does make me chuckle though... In past employment places especially when 'infection control' are on the loose.... there is an abundance of paper towels and liquid soap all over the shop😂... All these visits should be on a knock and enter policy. Michael, you are a top bloke, who tells it as it is. A fella after my own heart. Don't ever change, keep being you and keep up the dedication to your profession.... The world needs more people like your good self. God bless ya fella, take care. Xx

In Australia every company can charge whatever they want. They advertise on tv with their fancy funeral homes and cars. There should be one association for everyone in each country. They should be regulated for their health and safety with the items/processes that they deal with.

I'm privileged to be part of a small independent Funeral Home, having worked within the large corporate entities, where sadly, the bottom line appears to be more imperative, i truly believe the small independent Family Funeral homes offer a more personal, and supportive service to familys, its not about huge corporate profit, its about Dignity, Reverence, and a Genuine sincerity of care. Keep up the good work👍

Im not british I live in Israel and we have different rules here but how is it possible this field is not regulated in a very strict way? I mean it's 2024 you'd think burial and dealing with the dead would be well regulated and people's bodies would be trreated with dignity this day and age... Here in Israel if you're Jewish and the death is natural and there is no pending enquiry into the death, traditionally a person is burried as fast as possible usually in the same day the death occurs... It preserves the dignity of the deceased, preventing the remains from being handled (or mishandled) by strangers, ar keept for days and get to decompose before burial...

The cost of the funeral Was 6,500 € just collected her from the hospital after pm took her to funeral home for preparation of the body and returned her to the family home for a wake. We walked to the church. And the herse Was used once going to the cemetery.. no church fees as I done that myself. A very simple funeral

Very interesting, I had a bad experience with Undertakers when we buried my dad, nothing went as we wanted but the worst was when I went to the coffin at the front of the church to say goodbye to him I saw the coffin had "Fablon" on the side!! (sticky back plastic) it was a wooden design. I said nothing at the time as I was distraught at losing my dad. I can't do anything about it now as he was buried when my mam died I made sure not to go back there. Thank you. .👏👏

Michael I totally agree NAFD have to much of a stronghold they seem to encourage a secretive industry a industry which hides behind a rule that if you want to see behind the scenes them I’m afraid this is not possible out of respect for the individuals we care for, So put those individuals away from prying eyes and then show us around. Surely it’s not to difficult or impossible to ask. But nowhere is 100% open. Things need to change and I would back a champion to make this possible the industry is so secretive that no one can find employment or volunteer roles within the industry without being in the industry already?

Yes , the whole industry needs proper regulating. I used to work for our local undertaker and I witnessed some things regarding the treatment of the deceased and their families that were just so wrong and unfair. Also, my boss was an arrogant, two faced hypocrite who loved being the centre of attention and thought he was more important in the local community then he really was. The day I left was such a relief.

So Michael why don’t these Directors go on a yearly course. To get stamped to trade & be informed Environmental Health can visit at anytime. And if there funeral homes are not up to standards. Then they are ceased to trade with immediate effect. And issue a New Application form that all funeral homes have to send to the Councils etc. including the total costs. Co op/Dignity Funerals take the piss always have.

I like a person that speaks up as you self and it a good thing where you agree or not is not the point On the question of bad people that die I know it's hard but an undertaker duty is important in realty they have to handle them from time to time and their body's have to be disposed of properly it like the two Ronnies with the self service crematorium the Local criminal gans were disposing of the bodies in it and people were going missing in the village In Christianity the body belongs to God it dose not belong to the person it the person that Miss use their body but the body should be cremated and scattered out at sea quitely or make use of it donation to science like their was a very famous criminal in America who was taken over by his son well so called given a funeral with God forgiveness but at the end of day it was Miss used he was cremated but this son was caught selling the ashes to trophy hunters and black witchcraft so controls have to be in place and that where a good undertaker is needed But there is another case of a bad dead guy came in to an establishment and two female staff would not handle him as he s abuse their sister it was taken to the jobs tribunal as the owner said they had to they refused but why was the body not pass over to another place That's why I am also against burial at home or ashes buried on property's there is no reason that they won't be yanked up in future like that big field was there for years scattered dads ashes and as donkey will brays in two or three years a car park goes up or someone else buy the garden and house it unfair to expect that person to keep up a memorial or grave In any job in life we get the good bad and ugly and we have to be practical As regards hull most undertaker's are great people and theses things thank God are rere and media will high light it but with government legislation that's a problem to they don't study the problem a problems come up and an other problem come they bring in regulation until its impossible to run a business and end up as bad as the clubs you are talking about It starts with good quality education all singing fro same hymn sheet and no one can run or own a undertakers with out this and have at least ten years experience with proper established business God Bless
