Most of my family moved out of this area during the 1940a through the 1950s. I still have relatives in these hard hit areas. My heart breaks for them. I worry about the family cemeteries. Nothing seems to be covered about that situation. 😭

The search for the potentially living are taking precedence at the moment. As well as where the living are going to seek shelter, food, clean water, clothing, etc. Besides, most of the old family cemeteries are on the hills and ridges, because the old timers needed any flat land for crops.

I saw one was washed away, video didn't say where though. The waters are so contaminated and so many won't get proper things needed to clean or remove things. It's so very sad. We moved from there 6 years ago. I still want to go back.

Sadly too many people just refuse to face that fact these extreme weather events are increasing in frequency, intensity, and duration. Keep denying climate change caused by global warming, because it really doesn't matter what deniers think about it.

That helicopter has the capacity to lift a modern tank, so they are limited to airlifting only one Kentuckian out at a time.

This is the second thousand year rainfall event in seven months. Climate change makes the world warmer, and storms like this are a result. I'm watching my air quality decline due to a massive fire on the California/Oregon border. We're basically going to be stuck inside from now till Christmas due to this. I've been nasty about this event on national news channels, gonna tone it down here, but the message is the same. If you don't like getting hammered by climate change driven storms, maybe change out your Senators so all of us can get some relief?

Climate change? Thousand year rainfall event? You act as if eastern portions of Kentucky haven't been prone to flash flooding for years. The mountainous terrain and narrow valleys have always proven problematic when heavy rains come. This particular event was worsened by the fact that much of the worst flooding happened late at night when people were sleeping. Likewise, massive wildfires in California aren't exactly a new phenomenon. When you live in an arid climate with an abundance of dry brush to serve as fuel, massive wildfires are going to result. It has diddly to do with "climate change". And you can keep your California politics where they belong --- in California. If you wish to live in a nanny state governed by socialists, have at it. Kentuckians don't want any part of that nonsense.

I agree we need some more republicans! This never happened under Trump!! You are very correct! I see way more people die in Oregon and Washington from violence and I don’t want that in my home state of Kentucky!!

@@georgetincher7859 George, the frequency, intensity, and duration of extreme weather events are increasing all over the planet. It doesn't matter how many __cking times deniers spout the propaganda they have been indoctrinated to repeat. Climatologists have predicted for years, that intense downpours like happened in KY will happen more frequently because much more water vapor is bing held in the atmosphere because of global warming. St Louis had 9 inches of rain fall in under 12 hours, and KY had 10 inches fall in under 12 hours. Those are only two examples of this phenomenon that is increasing in frequency in many parts of the world. In the UK, a heatwave lasting a week had temperatures up to 40ºF over average high temperatures. In the US, the areas with the hottest summer temperatures average in the 90s for this time of year. Well imagine temperatures 120 to 130º F happening for over a week. Think that won't be a big deal? TX, OK, AR, KS, MO had 2 weeks of high temperatures in most cities and towns between 100 and 120º F. My neck of the woods in that area, we had several days that reached 110º F. The jet streams have already been affected by climate change, and this accounts for the extremes we are seeing, including the extreme cold events happening in the winter. The jet stream now meanders a lot further south(trough) , and a lot further north (ridge). The deep dive south for instance has brought record cold to places like southern TX and FL. At the very same time, places like Alaska were having record high temperatures in the winter over 50º F. These troughs and ridges get stuck in place for weeks at a time, and this is a new phenomenon. As the average global temperature rises, both extreme cold events with record snow will occur because of the distorted jet stream.I know, I know, it's a complex issue, and deniers will have none of the complexity, because that would take an honest effort to really get to the objective truth of the matter. They just scream Al Gore, or Soros, or say dumb things like "well it's hot in the summer time, duh". So George, when there is a heat wave in your neck of the woods, and it is 130 to 140º F for days on end, just know you can always go outside and scream at the sky "FAKE CLIMATE" because that will help you deal with it, right? Don't think this will happen? It's going to happen in your lifetime bro.

🙄 this has NOTHING to do with climate change. In fact there is no such thing. This IS the result of the earth's magnetic shield decreasing from Solar Flares, CME'S and Sunspots on the Sun! Best get educated!
