You forget again to switch off the crystal filter! So You get no 455 kcs signal thrue the small crystal filter.

I have a Vintage WW2 RCA AR 88 the S meter is wired into the cathode of the 1st IF amp but the meter is right handed movement and to zero the meter it set to the left of the scale and rise's to the right on a tuned signal.
