I actually never watched this until a few weeks ago. I went to the movies to see it and it was a surprisingly full theater. Very funny! I'm a fan of the Vacation franchise, but I always skipped this one because the kids were too young looking in my opinion. I'm actually glad that I got to experience when and how I did.

I love that the movie starts with them on the road, basically telling the audience, "this is what you're used to, but you're going to be getting something very different,". It's one of the big reasons why Christmas Vacation is my favorite film in the series. It went against the formula. Also, it's just damn hilarious.

Same here. The house I grew up in had a real fireplace and we only used it one night a year-Xmas Eve. My dad would light a fire and the family would watch Christmas Vacation and All I Want for Christmas. Unfortunately we moved out of that house and my dad died in 2000 but I still go out of my way to watch Christmas Vacation every Xmas eve. It’s a tradition I’m never letting go of.

The animation in this is incredible, and particularly the glistening on the snow. That blue color from the sky is magical. Reminds me of how amazing the animation in Who Framed Roger Rabbit is, particularly the pink glittering dress that Jessica wore. I've still never seen animation like that pink dress!
