Updates: New metro route has been introduced in its Third Phase in Kolkata Metro. Now one can take Metro from Howrah. On 6 March 2024, the truncated route between Esplanade and Howrah Maidan was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi (Source: Wikipedia). So, One can come directly from Howrah to Netaji Bhawan Metro (Nearest metro station from the National Library) via Esplanade/Rabindra Sadan. Can we bring our notebooks and hard copies here for self study ? or suppose I want to note down something useful in my copy from any books from the library, are these possible? Cause i saw in the comment section that u replied one comment by saying that only soft copies are allowed here and i am talking about hard copies, personal note books etc in which I can physically write down notes.

Yes, you can carry blank papers or notebooks inside the library for taking notes. Hardcopies like books/photocopies or any printed materials are not allowed.

Thanks for finding this video helpful. One has to maintain silence in the reading section and other parts of the Library. Otherwise, students/scholars/readers may feel disturbed. You can watch or listen to lectures, but the Library is not the ideal place to talk and attend meetings that demand you to speak. If you want to attend a short-term meeting, you can do that outside the Library, or there are some lawns from where you can attend meetings too. I hope it answers your question; if not, you can visit the Library and explore the beauty of it as well as find out what works best for you. Thank you.
