I have a 1411 with an Ortofon Concorde, which looks totally fantastic.

I have a mint example of the 1401. The tone arm pressure and anti-skating control should both be set to the same value. In this case, 2 grams. Your anti-skating dial shows it's set to a little over 1 gram. That causes uneven tracking down one side of the groove and lessens stereo effect. It only takes 1 second to turn the dial but could make a big difference in critical listening. Nice video!

Yes. It uses a photo-electric eye to determine when the tone arm is nearing the inner track and lifts precisely, once the sensor sees the arm clear the grooves.

I don't think it uses a photo electric eye. I have a 1411 (same but dark color) and i had to do some maintenance so i had to take it apart. The arm itself pushes a tab near the spindle that engages the return mechanism.
