Part of the National Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Prep Course, this is designed to be an asset and resource for future pesticide applicators or seasoned veterans looking to study prior to retaking their certification exam.
Chapter 1 of the National Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Manual is all about Pest Management. This will be a distilled version of Chapter 1 from the National Pesticide Applicator Core Manual.
The goal is to increase your odds at passing the exam. The National Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Exam has a 70% fail rate. We attribute this to the fact that most people are visual learners in todays world. I want to personally thank Austin Douglas for creating this entire series to help those looking to become pesticide applicators. For anyone watching, I cannot stress enough the importance of watching these videos repeatedly until you fully understand the topics and content. This series has been incredibly valuable to us all and was instrumental in helping me pass my pesticide applicator General Standards core exam. I achieved a score of 93%, which would not have been possible without this series. The information in these videos was also extremely helpful for my Structural Health category exam. I highly recommend this entire series to anyone looking to become a pesticide applicator. Some individuals in the comments have mentioned "contradictory statements" in this video series. Personally, I strongly disagree with this assessment. The content is based on the NATIONAL PESTICIDE APPLICATOR MANUAL. It's worth noting that states like California, Texas, and Florida may have more stringent requirements, questions, and regulations in addition to what is covered in the national manual. Each state's requirements may vary, and this is something everyone should be aware of. My state bases the General Standards manual on the National manual, making this entire series the most valuable tool for me to understand the content and pass the test. Although I did not purchase the practice test that Austin offers, I would definitely recommend it to others if they can make the purchase. I believe it is fairly priced and can help identify areas of the manual that may need refreshing and provide an idea of the types of questions to expect on the test. In hindsight, purchasing the practice test might have helped me achieve an even higher score. Overall, I highly recommend watching this entire series multiple times, completing the practice questions at the end of each chapter, and reading your manual alongside the videos to become as familiar with the content as possible. Thank you again, Austin, for taking the time to create this series and helping us in our journey. You have truly assisted so many of us in passing this test, and we can't thank you enough!

Easiest way to pass the core is master the practice exam at the back of the book… if you can pass that you can pass the core… I passed at a 90% that way.

Update. I watched every chapter on the core. I watched them about 3 times each to really drive the info in. Took the test this morning and passed with a 92% in Missouri. Use these videos plus some common sense and you’ll fly through the test and pass with ease. Thank you again for taking the time to make these videos. Without it there’s no way I would have passed.

I do not have anything for the private core. Only commercial. Essentially, they are the same material with only slight differences in regards to the law. Private applicators can only treat on private property. Generally orchards, farms, nurseries. If you want to go out and serve clients at their property, you need a commercial license.

I’m currently looking into this, and in Michigan, west side of, but none the less. I started just taking care of my own 1 acre woodsy property. Now neighbors and family want me to come spray their property and maintain them seasonally, for mosquitoes and bull gnats mainly…so, I’m now looking up how to do this, to get started in the right direction and get my own bug spray business going…

Awesome! In Michigan, you need two season's working as a Certified Applicator for a company before you can start your own firm. Or, you need a bachelor's degree in a similar field. It's one of the things I dislike about Michigan's laws; not very small business friendly.

Great question. The National core is the federal baseline for all states. Likely, your state will follow the national core. It will also have state specific content on the exam.

The core is a national book. All states go off of the core. The main differences will be local laws. Usually each state has an adendum of laws and regulations that are state specific. Here in Michigan we have an adendum. I would imagine, with California being as strict as they are, they will too. Check your land grant university for California and the department of Agriculture in California for more information.

Thank you for the lesson. Anyone in Ma who has watched Natalia give her presentation for the test knows she rambles on about so many things that don't pertain to the test. Also so boring no one cares about her life story we wanna know what's going to be on the test. When I asked her specifically what information to study specifically, she said all of it🤦

Careful about these free KZbin videos, and their sameple tests. For 1) while I am currently studying for the core exam, I have been watching a ton of these videos and have notice they make a lot of contradictory statements through out course.."I thought you said back in chapter 3...Yada Yada yada". 2) be very careful as to what state you are in. Yes it's a "NATIONAL" Core exam, but here in the state of Florida, we have a ton of "limited exemptions" because as you have already learned in your studies, states have the right to enact more stringent "ammendments" to the current existing Federal regulations, laws, and rules. It definitely will cause you to get some answers wrong...and if it's as hard it seems to be made out to be..NO ONE can afford to automatically get some answers wrong.

Thank you for your comment Rob. I would love to know if you've found anything contradictory in our series. As for state specific content, every state is different in their laws and regulations. Anyone that has ever asked, "does this apply to XYZ state?" I have responded with it being the natuonal core content and every state has its own laws and regulations. As for our practice exam that we launched, it is solely based on the national core book. There is zero state specific content. The feedback has been quite good from those that have taken it and then taken their actual exams. Most have scored 86% plus. Many of which have gotten scores around 96% on the core.

Assuming this comment was made in good Faith, I agree that these things are worth keeping in mind. This video is great and I have not found any contradictory or outright incorrect information in it. This is actually a great resource and I'm surprised it is free. When I was coming up in the industry, I did not have anyone guide me to something like this and it caused a lot of missteps and wasted time. Now that I own a business, I am having my guys work through these chapters and I find this content creator/channel to be very helpful. I would like to see the creator of this channel create a course that you can pay for to help kick back some money for his time. Always pay attention to state specific laws, rules, and regulations however, this information does seem to be good, valid, and reliable. It's at least a great place to start.
