A very interesting video indeed of how the quarter chime mechanism of Big Ben was repaired after that mechanical failure back in early August 1976! That looked an awful amount of damage done due to the fly fan shaft breaking etc! Good to see the clock mechanism repaired & working again with both chiming & striking trains working too as well as the going train! Well done NPL for coming to the rescue & restoring the symbol of Great Britain! Long live Big Ben!

This is the first video I have seen of the chiming and striking trains actually doing their work. I have seen this on other tower clocks, two here in New Zealand - Ashburton (where the mechanism is in a glass cabin at ground level) and where I live in ROTORUA (the old Post Office which is now Tourism). That clock hasn't chimed since the mid 80s and of course they don't compare with the sheer size of the Westminster Clock.
