@@truth4004 - the Electoral College is a racist and archaic institution that needs to be relegated to the dustbin of history. Since that would take a 2/3 majority of both houses of Congress that's not likely to happen, but there's a movement afoot to negate the influence the EC will have on the 2024 election and all elections thereafter. The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) is an agreement among a group of U.S. states and the District of Columbia to award all their electoral votes to whichever presidential ticket wins the overall popular vote in the 50 states and the District of Columbia. At this point there are 17 electoral jurisdictions, constituting 205 electoral votes, that have codified the Compact into law. They still need 65 electoral votes, but they're gaining momentum.

I think Dr. Kayyem is both out of touch and also misreading everything; I don’t think that the violence will repeat itself in the same way, because my suspicion is that Trump will choose fleeing to Russia to avoid serving his eventual prison sentences before he will ever voluntarily allow himself to be booked. She also missed the fact that the MAGA movement is primarily a reaction to Wokism (when one is eventually vanquished, both shall be vanquished; seriously, Mr. Anonymous Person scrolling the comments, in a world where invention can only be preceded by necessity, do you truly and honestly believe that the “perceived political necessity” that originally created the MAGA movement was truly motivated by nothing?).

It seems that they already have established a certain order and activation code how things will develop for granted success this time later this year.

agree, i sense he can't win. Several things in the past year or two have made this more likely, i.e the new-right wing appears so increasingly extremist-adjacent, and is so authoritarian as the red-state/county level, that the whole nation is on alert for what appears to be implied severe over-reach plans by ultraconservative WH under DJT, which would also mean conservative state /local gvt's would have the flex to opress their constituents who won't cow to their authoritarian demands and new 'rules and laws' such as book bans, reducing voting hours/access, and monitoring pregnancy healthcare. NOT in MY country, ever! And if red states push this too far, then some rich states will have an incentive to push for changing the entire tax structure of the nation so that taxation is more evenly rational for the whole nation. As it is, as it has been for the past century, liberal rich states/areas are paying for the poorer/conservative states/areas. Eventually, that can't last and laws will be created for the whole nation that enshrine personal freedoms, incl. that abortion cannot be illegal and legislators cannot be allowed to create laws that assume they have the contextual knowledge that doctors have and medical ethicists have. Keep these ignorant and religiously-founded beliefs out of law. Abortion is something that can only be decided by the person who is the actual progenitor of, the mother, who herself is informed by various ppl including medical pro's, her own background knowledge based on all she's learned, often from her own religion, which may differ from the particular evangelical xtian beliefs about abortion (and other family law concepts) that the red states have been trying to shove down ppl's throats in ways that are plainly anti-american and unprecedented: e.g. in ID or TX.
