Hello my believer family. Long after I have had my service in my part of the country. Your church meets. Then the thought crosses my mind this continues all over the Earth. His name is lifted up. He said if he be lifted up he would draw all men unto him. All over the Earth

Joe Brown preached 42 minutes. After reading the text (Matthew 19:16-26) at the beginning, he didn’t read from the Bible a single time throughout the rest of his 42 minutes message, and didn’t even quote it besides a verse in passing taken out of context to fit what he was ranting about. It’s sad the Bible isn’t important enough to be used here.

Your wrong mate, the Bible, is important to use at church

@@DaneseLinderman I completely agree, which is why it’s sad that the Bible is rarely used here. I was pointing out that Joe Brown apparently doesn’t think the Bible is important enough to actually use it. His opinions must be far more important because that’s all he preaches. You and I agree that the Bible is the most important thing!

Brother Joe Brown is a great man of God whom God has used tremendously here in Eastern Iowa. I had never heard of him until a couple years ago, and now as I go door knocking some 1 1/2 hours away from his church, I somewhat regularly come across people whom God has used his ministry to reach here in Davenport, IA and the surrounding area. So when I read your comment, my first thought was that this must be a rare exception, and that is unfortunate. But then as I listened to his message, it was filled with Scriptures. Yes, he only read that passage, but then he quotes so many verses (many are partial verses, but some like Job, are large passages). In addition to that, he brings up many accounts from Scripture that are paraphrases of the Bible story. Just because you don’t “read” the verses doesn’t mean that you didn’t preach the Word. He clearly did, and the fact that he was in front of the pulpit quoting the Scriptures is just more evidence on how much he knows the Scriptures. Be careful about criticizing preaching and preachers. You should have enough fear of God to think twice before putting a complaint about a godly preacher on the internet.

@@jmcollison10 I did say he quoted it, but it was out of context and in the middle of yelling just to fit what he was saying. Anyone can find verses to fit what they’re already talking about, but that’s not preaching the Bible. That’s googling a verse or two about what you want to say and then quoting it in the middle of a rant. I wish he’d preach the Bible instead of just use the Bible to further his own opinions.

@@benjamindavis1136You said he quoted “a verse,” so when I was watching the message, I was honed in to hear if he used Scriptures. Yes, he spent a lot of time on illustrations, but that is not a bad thing. But as he was speaking, I kept thinking, “That is Scripture, and that is Scripture, and that is a paraphrase of Scripture.” Again, it was filled with Scripture. Often short phrases that are not an entire verse, but Scripture nonetheless, and a lot of it. What opinion are you referring to that you wish he didn’t preach? His message was about we must seek God Himself, not just seeking a good life. He didn’t veer from that much. That was what he was preaching. Was that the rant he should have avoided? If you want him to be going through a bunch of verses and explain in detail what they are talking about, that is Bible teaching. But if he takes a passage, gets a message from that passage, and declares that message to others, that is Bible preaching - and that is what he did.
