In 1988 was een fusie tussen de "Koninklijke Militaire Kapel" en de "Johan Willem Friso Kapel" nog ondenkbaar. Maar Joris Voorhoeve besliste als Minister van Defensie helaas dat die twee korpsen wel samen konden gaan.
