Hi, That Dude, have you decided to become a notary as of yet?
@MichaelBrianInc Жыл бұрын
@@izzyh.3581 No I decided not to pursue it. I passed the State test to become one, but did not invest in it as there’s a lot of lacking information as in “how to” online. For me to feel confident, I wanted to find more solid info on the how to and what specific documents with examples you’d run in to. I understand the core documents, but I need to see examples or have a better knowledge of what they look like. Unless you pay for a course it just felt like I’d be going in blind. Even without experience, I needed to have that knowledge. How can I come off like a professional if someone calls and I have no clue what their particular document even looks like? With the position I was in, it was not for me. It’s no as easy as others make it try to be. You need to have a solid grip and what you’d be signing and how to, you do need money to invest, and you must learn how to market yourself effectively otherwise you’ll have zero clients. There’s a lot of upfront time you need to spend knocking doors and seeing faces also. This is a position I highly respect as it is a legally serious position. I just didn’t feel as confident and wasn’t going to follow the KZbin buzz you tend to find when seeking information about a topic. Too many misleading videos (discussing earnings and so on from average people who aren’t seasoned notaries). Maybe in the future I’ll consider it again.
@izzyh.3581 Жыл бұрын
@@MichaelBrianInc yeah I understand exactly what you're talking about. Both you and I need to be comfortable rather than going in blind. I bought a course and I have to say, it has a ton of information but it's not sorted out to readily find the information so it's like opening a unassembled puzzle box trying to find the correct piece. There are books sold by notary's about general notary work but I haven't invested in those yet. I'm actually disappointed in the course I bought for over $500. I learned a lot but it's information for later(loan signing agent) after I should have learned general notary work which the course instructor pawns us back off to the nna website to purchase their course. It was very misleading because I thought I was going to learn everything for that cost. The person who told me about this career told me it's on the "hush-hush". She's right. I had been looking for a new career field for over two years before she put me on. I am commissioned in the state of CA, I can legally perform notarizations but I haven't marketed myself yet. Kinda going in-between loan signing agent and gnw. I've decided after 4 months that I'm going to go slow and steady instead of trying to meet the standards of loan officers and escrow officers. There is still good money in gnw. Fed ex/UPS stores for sure, schools, banks, hospitals all need us. What state are you commissioned?
@MichaelBrianInc Жыл бұрын
@@izzyh.3581 Even though you didn’t gain the specifics you seek, you gained good knowledge. If it was directed at loan signings, you didn’t necessarily lose. You don’t need to touch gnw and can niche down to a loan signing specialist if you wanted to. Loan signings after training can be easier in the sense that you only deal with the same documents over and over. So you’ll quickly learn vs gnw where documents change all the time and you might not come across the same one for weeks. Slow and steady when starting a business is not the answer I hate to say. You have to go hard and go all in with any business you decide to go after. Especially with marketing. It’s day in and day out putting yourself out there, chasing rejection and pushing past it. You have to steam roll your days like a train. Slow and steady does not build the momentum you will need to start getting steady work. Slow and steady will bring in a client or two per month if you’re lucky. You need to get your name out there and build a reputation quickly to gain steady work. And you have to hit the same places multiple times so people see you over and over. You hit a place once and disappear they’ll know you’re a fluke and never give you business. Loan signings vs gnw imo when comparing really came down to costZ it’s more overhead and money to invest in loan signings which includes training. I didn’t have that capital to take that chance. You can charge more also and utilize signing agencies to build up some work. I think it also will depend on the real estate market. If it’s hot and there’s a lot of selling and buying then you will find plenty of work. But you have to build up your rep and skills. Those documents are extremely important to not make mistakes. One mistake can cost others money, time, frustration and land you in court as well. This type of career is a very noble path. If this is what you really want to do, don’t be disheartened. Maybe consider going all in with loan signings as a specialist and do light gnw as you go such as i9 forms etc. Otherwise, keep seeking what you want and you’ll eventually find it. I think you need to make a decision and move on though. Either get 100% all in with it or leave it in the back seat and move forward. Don’t let the back and forth hold you any longer. FL here.

@@jessicapaulin1260 Hi Jessica..I went on www.dos.ny.gov, go to Profession & Occupations, stroll the drop down until you see Notary Public, click on Notary Public option, and download the Notary Public License Law manual (you can print it out, it's only 17 pages, or download it to your phone, but for studying purposes I prefer printing it out). This page will also provide you with information on where to take the test (in Manhattan) Please Study, the Notary exam for NYC is very challenging and it's made up of 40 questions, and you're only allowed to get 7 wrong. I also used flash cards that I found online to study. It's so worth it tho once you are notified via mail that you pass the exam and it will look so good on your resume. I have been a little busy during this COVID-19 epidemic especially since alot of businesses were closed. I wish you the best of luck and feel free to reply to this message if you require any additional information or assistance 😊

If one is a closing agent, this might make sense. However, in my state you are capped at charging around $2.25 per act, while it costs several hundred dollars for a commission plus stamp. It is useful if you work in a law office and may put you ahead of other applicants for paralegal work.

Hello Luis. You can only be commissioned in the state you are a resident of. You can notarize for everyone who presents acceptable identification, excluding yourself. You cannot notarize your own signature, nor can you notarize documents you are named in or would benefit from. Texas law doesn't specifically prohibit you from notarizing for a spouse or relative or for a spouse's business.
