Wow! This is a bucket of cold water in my face! I have a talented 15 year old daughter. Most folks around here think she is D1 material. Problem is, we live in the Caribbean(Virgin Islands). Recruiters don’t really come here, for the same reason our players don’t travel to a lot of tournaments on the mainland. Cost! We are US citizens, but if you think travel ball is expensive, imagine when you have to fly to the mainland, pay for room and board, just for a weekend at some showcase! Unless you are wealthy, you can only do that a couple times a year. Add the variable that these girls have to handle that circumstance in a manner that will draw eyes, and it highlights what type of hill we are climbing. I assure you, we have the raw material, but are lacking many of the resources, opportunities, and even competitive scenarios, that will bring out the best in these young ladies. Just check out their metrics. They match up, but their experiences are not on par with their peers on the mainland USA.

When a player like McKinsey Donahoo has to transfer to get playing time, you know there are great players in the portal.

All I know for sure is that if UCLA, Florida, Arizona, or Patty Gasso wants a kid, everyone else is going have a hard time. NIL gives them a better chance now though.

GET TO THE POINT!!! 4:59 in and the “host” is still yapping. I can’t take it. NEXT.

Does no one else see a problem here? The more coaches depend on the transfer portal, the less investment is paid on incoming freshmen. However, all transfers were once incoming freshmen. The parasite is eating the host! The NCAA needs to address this. Also everything needs to be done, to create a pro women’s softball league. MLB, where are you? Women’s softball is better than women’s basketball. It is literally a different sport! Limited opportunities for high school graduates, will discourage parents from committing the significant investment required to create top notch softball athletes.
