Native American history how they got food for there hungry family, How the Native American made there fish trap, The funnel opening will have to be large enough for the fish or turtle to swim into, leave the opening facing into deeper water,They can't get out they do circles in the trap.for survival only. its amazing how the native americans thought up of some of the most effective yet simplest ways to trap fish and other animals and not have to spend anything to do it. the native americans are a blessing to the lands if you ask me. my grandfather was native american. may his soul forever rest in peace.

Check the trap for water moccasins (for us southerners especially) before sticking your bare hand into it. These snakes are sneaky and will hide in the trap waiting for more fish to show up. I nearly learned that the hard way once when fish grabbing in a side pool of water along a creek recently flooded. This would be a great trap for turtles. They will be less stressed by remaining cool and wet till I check the trap again a few hours later after baiting it. Thank you for the video.

1:24 - 1:57 should be entitled "Dumb Enuf To Be Et". That trap reminds me of those damn metal ring finger puzzles the boss has laying on his humongous desk. Me, playing with the bosses metal ring finger puzzles could be entitled "Dumb Enuf To Be Fired" or "Jury Duty Pool" I did not know catfish were attracted to Spam On A Toothpick. Hmmmm... Awesome vid. Kudos.

Are all fish equally "stupid"? I live in Denmark and we don't have catfish as far as I know, we would have trout, "perch" and "pike" if google translate havn't failed me. Pike is a crazy fish that eats everything, razer sharp teeth and perch is a smaller fat one. We also got a silvery one with red finns! Best explanations ever!

I know you posted this about 8 months ago but I'll try and respond a bit more detailed. See the fish cant turn that tightly, once it enters the little slots on the left or right, it can't turn to leave easily. 1 or two really smart or agile fish may escape, but you'll always have something to eat.

you can also make these out of rocks and way bigger without much more effort, just find a shallow area in a river or lake shoreline that curves it, now make a open bottom V towards the inside of the depression in the bank high enough so fish can't swim over it.
