Dude… you are everywhere. I was wondering if I was Purépecha because I’m from Michoacán but I don’t know anything about this tribe nor do they ancestry tests say what tribe we belong to just what states.

The thing here is that Purepechas weren't people that wrote that much about themselves, that's why we know so little about their true origins and why we keep finding interesting things and hidden places to this day We know the most things about them by writings from other cultures and so little by Purepechas Other curious thing is that the Purepecha language is an isolated tongue Greetings from Cuitzeo, u have a new sub

Also my village's name is after a prince that lived there hundreds of years ago ...another thing ..my father plays and indigenous sport that we call(Pelota Tarasca) "Tarascan Ball" it's a dying sport and I don't know who can shoot a small Documentary on it...vice sports?.....I gotta do my homework to put my grain of salt on for my culture for a future video like this one.....Thank you!

Purepecha is the actual name of our people not Tarascó. Tarascó was a nick name the Spanish gave us and now that term is derogatory. Comes from the Purepecha word “tarasque” which means son in law which is what we would call the Spanish since they teamed up with us to over throw my Mexica (azteca) ancestors.

The three things you missed in this video were why they accepted to be a vassal and not fight the spanish invaders, first by the time the Aztec fell the Purepecha were just finishing a grueling civil war and were not prepared, second the Spanish marched with a huge army of native warriors and camped in front of the Purepecha capital only weeks after the civil war ended and lastly they were in the midst of a full on Smallpox epidemic which was the reason of the civil war because the ruler and heir died of smallpox.

@@Liber-Tea oh im not central american im south american if you make an Inca video i will love to help you with information about it, most textbooks used are modern textbooks written by europeans here in Ecuador we learn from local sources and european sources too cause there is always to sides in every conflict. Just a cool piece of Inca info, the Incas capture 3 spanish soldiers and learn how to make fire arms and how to ride horses by the end few Inca warriors were riding horses and using spanish armor, also the spanish lost a lot of battles and only after 30 years of war and plagues mostly plagues they won

Hi @LeoPURÉ112! Thank you for all of this information! After some further research, I find any of those name options to be more accurate to the history and culture than Michoacán! I personally visited Pátzcuaro in 2018 and had a wonderful time learning about your culture. My favorite memory was seeing children making paper and painting bookmarks! I have several from that trip and will never forget it. ♥

@c1rcas2011 we would love to one day have the time and resources to visit settlements and even make documentary style content if the settlement is open to such. Unfortunately, we are not a monetized channel and have thousands of US Dollars in our videos. We don't have the resources to travel and conduct research in that manner just yet. Our goal over the next few years is to make it to that point!

@vminhope3040 if she is. She's most likely from Michoacan. You should be honored to be of purepecha descendance. We never got beat by the Aztec. We were interesting to the Spanish because we managed to reach a bronze age thanks to the volcanoes around at the time. We were not subjected to rampant torture like other tribes. Still sad though
