Thanks for making this video. I am a landscape designer, trying to get more familiar with designing native gardens in the north east US, so this was very informative. I just paused right at the part where you explain how you are using a loose symmetry in the design to compliment the natural style of this garden. I'm definitely going to use this more often, I avoid symmetrical designs typically, but there are many situations that call for it.

This is a great video. Just the right length and with photos of the plants together through the season. Would love a 2023 update as well as more videos like this.. smaller typical residential settings. Thanks!!

Thank you for sharing! I just posted a video today with a design example using Sundrops and the Green and Gold video has 3 design examples (both in landscape design playlist). I’ll be sure to add a 2023 update for this video and to make more videos focused on design vs the plant focus with design on the side.

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode thank you for including very helpful details beyond the actual planting, i.e. salt exposure, rabbits, etc. It's important to have all that background when designing your landscape!

Nice video! Clear, and a good length. The design is versatile, and these plants are also native in my home state of Virginia. I would have used more spring bloomers (more Columbine, maybe Golden Alexander). Too much yellow! I like the purple asters and the columbine. Why not consider Spiderwort? Skullcap? Wild petunia (Ruellia)? Bee balm (Monarda)? Violets? Moss Phlox? Thanks for doing a great job.

Thank you for watching and for the comment. Your right, there are so many great natives to choose from. In this design I focused on salt tolerant plants knowing this development salts the roads in the winter and the potential for dog pee which narrowed the options. Phlox I don’t use in areas where there are deer and Monarda I use in areas where they can spread. I’ll be sure to make more design videos like the video I added today with Sundrops which includes a design example.

Yeah, invasive exotics are near universal. Once you get into native plants you start to think most everyone's yard looks cheap and generic. You see the environmental harm and the total lack of pollinators on the blooms.

Thank you for sharing. Did they rebound the following year? I made a note in my design folder. There is very little info on what rabbits prefer to eat. I feel there is a hierarchy based on availability but no good documentation that I have found.
