Hi guys, we are getting some unfortunate vicious comments "but you dressed as white people" combined with anger. When people dress as a Native they always dress as the stereotype involving feathers/headdress/beadwork and all of those have a sacredness to the culture. So using the general term dont dress as a Native American can be applied there. I think when people hear that their mind goes straight to generalizing it to "don't dress as any other race" which yes is a good rule of thumb, then see us dressed as 'white people'. Although we did dress as Bob Ross/Colonel Sanders, we didn't wear white face or anything sacred to the culture. We are not dressed as a general race of people. People of any color are not monolithic. Plenty of non-white people dress as Steve Jobs for Halloween for example, they are able to do so by not making it racial with coloring their faces or wearing anything that would be sacred. I wanna say its having a respectfullness for the culture's sacred aspects. With that logic could it be possible to dress as a celebrity from another race without using any culturally sensitive items? I think it could be possible doing it in a sensitive smart manner avoiding stereotypes. I know I'm not going to be able to change some peoples opinions but thought I'd add that in. In hindsight I should have been a little more specific. Reminder I am just a young guy with an open heart who is trying his best to help educate others. I am not perfect. If there's an aspect I'm missing feel free to help teach me.

Do we white people actually have anything scareded? I mean I would think Stone Hedge? But even then that's now a Pokémon. Like I got like Celtic and Nordic DNA, so I would say Funeral Fires but even those have been given the Hollywood touch...so I don't really know anymore.

@@katiearbuckle9017 the natives have a duty to preserve their sacred symbols just as we do there's way more symbols and traditions many people have forgotten to embrace your traditions and ancestors is never wrong but ever terrible to forget them and for examples the horned helms of the Vikings the heraldic Shields of the knights the paint on the pickt and the many dances and Rituals many have forgotten!

@Lord Of The Skies if you have an opportunity, come to the extreme North of Russia, and you'll see that natives still live in traditional houses looking like teepis, roam with reindeer, decorate leather clothes with fringe and wear similar beadwork as Native Americans. Natives living in forests make boats of birch bark and build wooden houses similar to hogans... Lots of cultural bridges.

It's a shame the, catholic church went above and beyond to destroy the language, culture, and religions of the indigenous peoples. It was a systematic destruction designed to leave them no one to turn to but "Jesus". I'm pretty sure that Jesus wouldn't have approved of natives being converted at gun-point.

People should wear whatever they want to for Halloween doesn't matter if it's the native American costume or a seller's costume or whatever if they want to be that then they can be that Halloween is for people to be somebody other than themselves so what y'all need to do is y'all need a backup and say hey it's just for Halloween it's not like that dressing like that everyday but if you're the kind of people that gets offended real easily here's something to easily solve that quit celebrating my holiday then because Halloween is an Irish holiday and I'm part Irish not only part Irish I am also part German impart native American too so if I want to wear a headdress and anything like that I can I dress up as the crow every f****** year so y'all quit taking my culture and my heritage and making fun of it but those two idiots dressed up as Colonel Sanders and Bob Ross

@@reaperoverlordofthe4thleve259 The point is it’s offensive being misrepresented! The traditional attire varies by tribe as do the ceremonial attire and has deep value to the culture. So should we all dress like lucky charms or wear kilts next Halloween to represent Irish culture? That would be offensive just the same. Kilts and bagpipes are Scottish but many don’t know that, isn’t that offensive to your culture?

We have read much more about your culture and history. Should you need a subject in the future, it would be interesting to learn about the feathers and your headdress that you and others wear. This is awesome, wonderful and needed. Keep spreading knowledge, because everyone needs to learn about other cultures. My roots are from indigenous Siberian Slavs, survivors migrating from constant wars, and fleeing to keep their minority family safe. The further you go, the whiter you get. Tell people what is offensive, that is wisdom and knowledge, but understand they are lacking connection to their own roots. This is not your job, but they envy your connection to land, spirit and mana. Don't become like them. Show them how powerful you truly are. Love you both - blessings!

Thank You for keeping a level head about the costumes. Acting all 'ghetto' "from the rez!" is cringe too. I don't believe the whole "I'll cut a 🐕 up" mentality can qualify as a cultural value. Fierceness and courageousness is admirable...

There's not many generic costumes out there for woman not leaning towards the sexy side of things. Even something like venom has been made into a sexy costume.

New to your channel and although I am not native / indigenous, I really enjoy learning about native culture and becoming more aware of the do’s and don’ts to show respect. I once wore a Halloween costume in my 20s and just thought it was cool, not wanting to be sexualized or anything. And looking back on it now as a more informed and mature adult, I cringe at myself. People really don’t think about it and often mock other people’s culture. I’m Greek and I can’t tell you how many skimpy outfits of Athena, the goddess of wisdom are out there! Thank you for all the videos, I’m a fan of the humor and education :) keep up the great job!

I think you guys are great for spreading the knowledge of your culture. Most people that aren't Native lack the knowledge of their own ancestors. Their history and culture has been assimilated into the general population several generations ago. Other people don't know their own history and aren't interested in it either. My opinion is if you don't know where you've been you won't know where your going either. Keep up the good work and spread the knowledge.

I just found your channel! I am Nez Perce and Salish, I live on my Reservation and retired Tribal Police Officer! I have seen many people fighting over race right now but I find it strange that our people have hardly been mentioned. Most of the "hollidays" celebrated in the US today are really a huge slap in the face to all Native Americans! The "4th of July" should be a day of morning for all Natives!! Thanksgiving as well is on my hit list! I am a great-grandmother and an elder now! I do Native beadwork and teach when I get the chance. You guys are funny and I enjoyed your video so much I subscribed to your channel! I will go watch some more of your videos now that I found you!!
