My 80yr old neighbor just gave me a filtrex emdeko and he said it was his mom's. She got it in the 50s. Thanks for the video as I'd never heard of these before today

I have one of the older Filtex canister models. Filtex was my dad's first customer when he started a polishing business in the late 40's after serving in the Pacific.

I love Filtex tank vacuums and the 1970s to early 1980s Electrolux vacuums.

In my town on Lake Huron in Ontario, Canada the vac dealership and shop I used to frequent had one Filtex in, and it was the twin motor unit at the end of your video. I thought they were cool looking machines, and the only company that makes anything like that now is the aforementioned "Central Vac International." My particular vac dealer at the time only sold Canavac central vacs and a local appliance shop sold Beam. Both of those shops are now defunct and the current appliance and mattress dealer I deal with sells Canavac and other portable machines. I mentioned before that I have a 20+ year old Beam Smart Home canister that works like a stationary canister vac as I just run the hose from it in the basement up the stairs in the living space and use it that way. At some point I will convert it into a bagged unit.

70 inches of vacuum and 90 CFM that was a lot of power in 1960 I would almost say that’s the most powerful vacuum in that time because most vacuums even in the 90s that were director has less than 20 or 30 I’d say they were doing really good in that time obviously modern central vacuums are way better

Its also interesting to know how much power they needed for what it does. Efficiency was often low in more modern vacuums because people thought more power usage = better
