The Ametek-Lamb motors are very solid and perform great. I do have a 7886-50 flow through motor from a German Miele S142 made in 1997. The plastics of the vacuum cleaner was so dried out and cracking that I moved the motor into a newer housing of the same size. Still running great on a daily basis and way better than what you can buy today.

Just found a through-flow Lamb motor while attempting to fix a venturi fogger! (Fogmaster Pow-R-Jet) Interesting rabbit hole that lead me to this video.

Owen, just yesterday I replaced a lamb motor from a two motor Beam 2900 central vac unit. This unit had 2 Lamb motors. Each motor ran at 110 volts each, however the unit was wired to 220 volt outlet. Inside the unit was a circuit board that separated the 2 motors to run at 110 volts. Powerful suction and the dual motor exhaust looked more like a drag racing engine.

That's interesting - I haven't seen that arrangement, only 240 volt motors. If it used 120 volt motors, they would have to have been wired in electrical series. Have done that a couple of times for special applications.

I gotta lot of love for the 334. I have to say that of new generation motors the 122233-00 6.6" 2-stage tangential by-pass is a impressive performer (not for cyclonic models). Longevity remains to be seen but it's hard to go wrong with a 2-stage tangential by-pass motor. Sticking with that style of motor has been very good to me in terms of limiting my warranty calls.

Very interesting and informative! Thank-you. Question: at one point in this video, you mentioned that some vacuum motors have two impellers, or even three. Is “two impellers” what constitutes a “two stage” motor? If so, how can multiple impellers be run off of one motor without overloading the electric motor, or loss of performance?

So how do you disassemble the ametek windjammer type a model 117878-52 ?

Would one of these be powerful enough to blow water out of swimming pool lines? I want to build a blower that can do that without spending over $500. Thanks.

Great video, I have the lamb 115334 motor that you used in your video and am having trouble getting my screwdriver onto the brush hold down screws. I did loosen the upper housing and gently pulled up to remove upper housing but the armature wanted to come with. I don't want to damage it. Can you give me some advice on this. I would like to clean the commutator as well. Thank you in advance.

Great content. Do you have anything on the newer brushless motors? I looked but could not find anything.

What are the units of vacuum mentioned here. Like units of 105 or 115?

Interesting. I have a 115334 sitting beside me that I took out of an astrovac. It is clearly stamped made in USA. The website that I ordered a new one from had a little paragraph explaining that the new ones were no longer made here, and to not expect it to last or work as well as the original. I sort of expected that anyway. But now I'm contemplating ordering new brushes for the old one and trying to rebuild it. Any thoughts?

Dont they use these bypass motors in the Turbine HVLP systems such as the Fuji Mini Mite or am I mistaken
@josephcalvosa82725 жыл бұрын
I think so but seems the only thing you cant find on the internet is a picture of the internals of a turbine hvlp. I have been Trying to figure out how a couple old vacuum cleaner motors sell for $1000 when labeled as a paint sprayer.? Would be really cool to grab a few from the scrap yard and plumb them in series and see how cheap i can make a 6 stage hvlp
@MittyNuke14 жыл бұрын
@@josephcalvosa8272 I think it's only ~$1k for the whole unit. I did a quick search for HVLP blowers and there are listings that appear to be standard vac motors for a few hundred bucks. High end pneumatic painting sprayer systems can be hundreds of dollars and that doesn't include the air compressor. But I don't know for sure.

Owen, thank you for this. I needed to know what the “Bearing Bridge” was called and now I know. I have a: Ametek SPECIALTY MOTORS Lamb RA1413430-02 09/12/03 REV E 240V 50/60Hz It is used in my old 2006 Sundance Spa and finally burnt out(brushes worn) due to the Bronze Bearing which is held by the Bearing Bridge is oval shaped due to the felt Oiler being bone dry. Do you know where I can find a pdf version of a parts list so that I can order and rebuild my Spa. I’m still able to use the spa but the bubbles aren’t working since I have the motor on my bench. I just hope to get it running soon so that I can get the stagnant air/water out of those lines. Thank you. Reg.

Hi Owen, I am looking for a motor that can blow about 3 psi. Do you know which model of the lamb-ametek's would give me that?
@TheOneRiv4 жыл бұрын
The “Windjammer” should do around 3-5 psi, it’s kind of expensive though.
