@@psychobabes1374 false. Black women dont have to cover their ends or do protective styling to retain length. Just make sure you keep your ends trim. Be gentle on wash days and when styling, do not manipulate your hair too much during the week. And make sure you are giving your hair lots of moisture from your conditioner as well as your shampoo.

@@mickeyxoxo5363 your ends definitely need to be protected. It goes hand in hand with the reason you need to get regular trims: to prevent breakage and split ends. If your ends are often left to the elements you will experience a lot of loss. I know first hand😂

This here is the most accurate hair growth after the big chop. Thank you for being so honest about your journey. I did the big chop in 2018, and the growth is a slow process - the shrinkage was a major setback especially after shampooing, I got it together.

I did the big chop last year and my hair grew as fast as the pace this young lady hair grew but I found that not manipulating your hair or having a regimen helps. I ain’t even attempt to style my hair I don’t do it at all I just wash it like 2 times a month (not even joking), put some moisturizer in and edge control and put on my hair band and just go. I rarely manipulate it. Maybe that can help.

@@xanyiztaylor8614 I couldn't said it any better. Low manipulation is the key and have regimen as well. I also wash my hair twice a month or even every three weeks and my hair is thriving. I will be 2 years post relaxed next week and my hair is the same length as hers almost 10 inches touching my armpit. Will stick will same regimen and hope to retain more 5 inches by next year when I hit 3 years post relaxed. It's gonna be 15 inches on my brastrap.

When you learn how to retain length by sticking to a routine and not over manipulating...your hair literally won't stop growing. And I think it's the regular (every 6 months) trims too because my hair has been the length it's at before but its 20x thicker and more defined ever since I started trimming

That's amazing my hair doesn't grow like that. I did about four big chops in my life. I just recently shaved my head in November. I'm not messing with my hair as much. hopefully my hair look like that in two years but your 7th month length was how long my hair was from 2015 to 2019. Usually stops growing once it gets to that length.

Assess & take note of what you’re doing at that stunted growth point. There is something that you need to start or stop doing. My problem was over manipulation. I had to learn how to leave my hair alone.
