My first year natural was trial and error with so many errors - following someone else’s hair routine and expecting the same results, not moisturizing my hair when needed, following type 3 gurus when I’m type 4 and couldn’t understand why my hair looked different when I did the same thing. CRAZY stuff but thankfully I figured it out. Education and learning what your hair needs is the key to happy natural hair.

@@Xanthe79 It will take time for your hair to adjust. After 6 months to a year you will notice a change in moisture and curl pattern texture etc. 😊 Product use is trial and error. Products that worked when I first went natural don't work for me now. Don't turn into a product junkie like I did. 1: Retwisting my hair every night. Not only was that setting me up for product build-up(esp since these products were hella thick), but I was also manipulating it too much. 2: Using thick products. Even though my hair is coily, I found that light creams and gels work wonders for my hair. Took me so long to realize since I assumed that having type 4 hair meant that I NEEDED thick products. It forced me to see that what works for someone else may not work for me and I needed to take into account how thick my own hair was.

When I use the aphogee two step I just use a regular hair dryer and move the dryer around until it dries. If you use the 2 step treatment do not let it sit for an hour. For protein treatments follow the directions so you don't get protein overload.

You have to let the aphogee get super hard and only a dryer can get you there. It will not be as effective if you let it air dry. I’m speaking from experience

I manipulate my hair every day wearing it in a bun taking it then putting in a ponytail taking it out putting in products stretching my hair every night I’m always touching my hair. I have heat damage after cutting 8 inches off due to heat damage. I’m a mess😭✌🏽

Im a dye-head. I used to dye my hair and then be lazy in my early 20’s.Now that I’m older I’m not so lazy and I don’t experiment with other people’s routines outside of techniques. It’s hard to keep up with washing and deep conditioning/protein treatments each week but my hair is flourishing now. Another mistake I did was not know my porosity I assumed I was low and would deep condition for hours and then wonder why it was breaking. I typically stick to the directions now and at best I may add a additional 10 mins but if I do more my hair is very mushy.

1.) Trimming my hair too often (it’s an obsession😫). 2.) Shampooing too often, I get product build up really easily (please recommend products that don’t build up!)

So how often do you wash your hair? I’m sorry, I’m new to your channel ☺️

New subby!! I love your personality & we have the same texture hair. It's so hard to find someone on here with the same hair texture. Most of them either have fine hair or very kinky hair. With that being said it's been hard trying to moisturize my hair properly. So thank you so much for your channel 🙌🏾😍

I'm thinking of shaving my head because I remember a time when if a drop of water dropped on my hair, it got puffy but now after getting my hair flat ironed for years and permed, it's completely straight. So I wanna start over and see whether I actually had curly hair and if so, begin to manage it. Can you let me know your opinion on this decision I wanna make?

I have high porosity, fine strand, medium dens. Do you think cowash is suitable for my porous hair and itchy scalp? There isn't much blogs or information about it. Even medical stuff that I can research on it.

I get scissor happy I feel like that's the reason why my hair it's not where I feel like it should be. I got a trim my second year of being natural that was so bad that I literally damn near start it over somebody else did it for me. And I lied to lady who trim my hair this time around and she said I had done a really good job and I honestly in about 7 months but I told her having three. That showed me after her doing a thorough cut that I don't have to trim my hair as much.

I get so confused when I keep hearing that it is bad for you to get your hair straightened often... it’s all about making sure your hair is protected. I get my hair straightened every 3 weeks and it’s growing healthy WITHOUT any heat damage. My hair reverts back with no problem. As long as you’re properly taking care your the hair by moisturizing & deep conditioning, regardless if it’s curly or straight, it will grow healthy. I have 4c texture hair btw.

Although I'm an insulin dependent type one diabetic who's also taking calcium pills daily & vitamin d pills ( once a week) I seriously wonder if these two things will have any negative impact on my hair growth journey?

Finding a moisturizing routine!!!!!! It’s so hard to genuinely moisturize my (naturally) dry hair. Like some products I have been trying make it more “sticky” than moisturized if that makes sense! Being with stylists (including my mom) who doesn’t know my type of hair and just does the routines they do on everybody. Wearing too much wigs and doing nothing to my hair underneath (very cringy right?)

I feel so green, tell me about the pantyhose ponytail holder please. I've read all the comments and I have literally made every mistake listed. I'm on the healthy hair track now though thanks in great part to you and a few other influencers.
