Have to say this video and one other I've watched by the company are excellent. Clear descriptions, honest about product effectiveness and range of application and sensible too. Glad to see health and safety also properly covered with what are no doubt potent products. I have ordered a patio sealer for my block paving, a cleaner product for the limestone part of my patio and about to order a sealer to use on the limestone once I've got rid of the black spot.

I have finally succeeded in applying your Drive Clean product. I see in your video that you say we have to wait for 3 days after this before applying the sealer itself. But, unfirtuanately here in Irealnd it is going to rain again tomorrow afternoon - only 48 hours since I put down the Drive Clean. Can I jump the gun and aplly it early afternoon tomorow ? I.e. Less than 48 hours after the initial appication. It HAS been very dry and sunny... Or should I leave it under the rain until the next sunny spell?!? Any advice much appreciated!
@SmartsealUk6 жыл бұрын
Hi James, the 3 days dry days recommended is just a guide. It depends on several factors, how much recent rain, how intensely it was cleaned, general weather conditions, does it get much sun etc etc. I would say normally if the weather has been good, it should be ok after 48 hours. But also remember it needs to be dry for at least 4-6 hours after application. Hope that helps. Nigel@Smartseal
@jamesdonalfaulkner6 жыл бұрын
That does help. Thank you Nigel. If it DOES rain today (likely), doe that mean I ought then to 1) restart the approx. 48-hour drying period from scratch once the rain has stopped 2) apply the sealant after that, once the weather is forceast to be dry for the next 4-6 hours?
@jamesdonalfaulkner6 жыл бұрын
Hi Nigel, We took the risk and applied the sealant today - Lidl sprayer broke down fairly quickly and we resorted to using a Lidl watering can and a stiff Lidl broom to spread the sealant around. Second coat went on via this fairly primitive and robust method and was finished at 5:30. At time of writing it is 10:08 pm so we have had almost 5 hours without rain - unusual for the west of Ireland! Keeping our fingers crossed hoping for another hour or two because the temperature here is only about 11 degrees... :-(( Lidl by Lidl...

Hi just bought the cleaner and sealer for my sandstone patio, at 7:16 in the video you seems to be applying water after you've sprayed the cleaner, that step wasn't mentioned in the description, so I guess my question is should I spray down with water after applying cleaner, if so how long after and then how long to leave before jet washing ? BTW other than that a great video, it really helps to see what it should look like after application of each product and the method used to apply it.

Hello, you would 'dampen down' the surface after applying the cleaner, if the weather was very warm. This is to stop it evaporating too quickly and becoming ineffective. Hope that helps. Josh@Smartseal

@SmartsealUk3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewdedinsky9858 I would suggest speaking to the contractor who laid it Andrew, it could be Efflorescence or minerals transferring through the slate, possibly from the sub-base. This regularly occurs and should gradually dissipate over time. I would act on the side of caution and not seal it until this has all cleared. Regards, Smartseal support

Yes, it should work ok, but we would suggest trying a sample of the product 1st to check it adheres correctly. The Limestone Black sealer would be the better option due to its, thinner viscosity. Hope that helps. Regards, Nigel@Smartseal

Would there be any issue using a 3 in 1 cleaner/sealer to mainly clean old outdoor marble, re-grout and then apply a more permanent sealer? or any recommendations? Thank you!!
@SmartsealUk Жыл бұрын
Hello Jacob, I am not clear what you mean by 3 in 1 cleaner/sealer, sorry. Certainly be careful, some sealers are not compatible with others and some can only be re-applied once a certain level of degradation/wear of the previously applied sealer has occurred. Hope that helps. Regards, Nigel@Smartseal

Hello again Nigel. I've just reapplied the sealant and have a quick question for you. We applied it to saturation (with a watering can) and probably put down too much as we had to wipe off quite a bit of the white sealant after 45 minutes or so, as you recommend. The patio does look the better for it, alright, but, oddly, rainwater hardly runs of it any more; the water now pools in any of the hollows - of which there are many in our sandstone. Could it be that, because the product is hydrophobic and because we put a lot of it down this time, the rainwater, which would have seeped down into the porous sandstone previously, can no longer do this because the pores are now filled with the hydrophobic sealant? Best wishes, James
@SmartsealUk Жыл бұрын
Hello James, good to hear from you. I would suggest the initial 100% hydrophobic effect will settle down after a couple of months and will not be an potential issue as we head into the Winter. Hope that helps. Regards, Nigel

Hi how long after a new patio being laid should it be sealed? Do you have to wait a certain amount of time, mixed answers judging from online. But some say with a breathable sealer you can do it straight away? Thanks
@SmartsealUk3 жыл бұрын
With so many types of natural stone on the market Mark, I would suggest there is not one definitive answer to your question. With patio stones being laid in different weather conditions, at different times of year, this is a factor. Natural salts and efflorescence possibly permeating through the sub base and stones means, personally, I would act on the side of caution and wait at least 3 months to see if any surface whiteness starts to appear. The sealers we supply for natural stone are breathable, but I would still suggest waiting for at least 3 months and not applying any type of sealer whilst any whiteness is present. Hope that helps. My husband applied a sealer to our new bluestone sidewalk that was suppose to give it a "wet look" and now it appears chalky looking. We called the company and they said that it was probably due to the product being expired, even though there wasn't an expiration date on the bottle. They said to power wash it. It has been over a year and it still looks dull and chalky. I assume that either it was expired or he applied too much, but how do we get it off? I'm not sure if powerwashing alone woud get the old sealer off. Would the Patio Clean Extreme get off the old sealer? I would love to get my bluestone back to the original surface so it can be sealed properly this time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am a commercial pressure cleaning specialist and I have come across in my 20 years with a job I am stumped with getting very different information. I have about 20000 sf of blue stone tile that outlines the building then concrete to bring traditional red. What I need serious advice on is the bluestone tile which has been neglected. I have done more research on this then any other job i've ever done before. I found a safe soap, my gut instinctively tells me to use no more than 2500 psi with a surface cleaner to avoid chipping. When I was there today I see where very inexperienced people assumed high pressure and they made a mess of it. This is more of a teadous hands on brushing the soap in then surface clean with a Honda gx 200 for lower pressure to prevent the chipping. I was gonna try a dirt killer rotary tip but at maybe 2000 psi max or green tip. I'm just trying to get help because this job is so important to me and I need advice from people who have done it before
