What I love about this video is that I hear a lot of people where I live say 'I extended the house and renovated the garden' and what they mean is, 'I employed 4 people to do that for me'. It was just incredible to see you doing practically ALL the work yourself, with only the company of your beautiful dogs. Congratulations!

Hello! I'm really impressed with the pool you've done! I couldn't understand how did you set the cedar walls and the docks posts to the ground. I'm wondering if it could damage the liner. Thanks for sharing! Greets from Portugal
@gason59 жыл бұрын
+Tiago Serafim, I rested the cedar walls on a bottom plate with a liner protecting my water holding liner. The furthest out dock post is resting on one of those bottom plates. The posts in the middle are resting on a plastic plate to displace the weight and is also protected underneath from puncturing the liner. Thanks for the interest.

Wow, this is really awesome! I'm attempting something on a much smaller scale...a natural pond (10m x 9m) but so far, the water is very green. We've got lots a few shelving plants but I'm worried the green water will kill them. Any advice? Cheers!
@gason59 жыл бұрын
+Mark Charlton Plants will require a few months to establish in their new environment so often patience is needed to ensure they have had enough time to start filtering. You might even need more plants and I would always recommend adding a UV sterilizer to the system. I have had a little string algae problem, but no green water due to the sterilizer. Once my plants are filtering well I will turn off the UV. Hope this helps some. I'd love to see pics of your project.

I definitely would not build one of these in Florida. Great idea and much love on the video. Very impressive.

Smart! The Romans used a cloth under their concrete so when the concrete cracked, it would self seal! This pool is similar as to the way we build PERMANENT pools which will NOT leak. Difference is, we used cloth over vinyl and splash a wet concrete grout over cloth BEFORE Pouring any concrete~ See our Training videos for the last several years!

How much would you say this project cost? Any guidance on how to do this if don't have heavy machinery can this be contracted out and still be affordable?

@@gason5 oh wow amen that is a blessing to hear. Any recommendations on products like the pump etc. I know it's been a couple years since you started this project so have they held up?

@kountryvaudeville9 жыл бұрын
Jo Sawyer Smart! A very small "practice " pool will save you hundreds of hours on a larger one! Best Layers that I have found to be PERMANENT and prevent leaking is ~1 Dig, 2 weak sand cement mix. 3 vinyl over sand, 4 cloth over vinyl, 5 splashed rich wet grout mix over cloth, 6 Concrete Hand Made rocks, shaped by you as the last layer> Very fast and very natural looking~Also extremely less expensive! [similar as how the Romans made water containment vessels and viaducts!
@kountryvaudeville9 жыл бұрын
PS: Don't Forget hydrostatic relief valves so the concrete will not float out of ground as has happens in California when pools are drained. Float like a boat! You don't want it to float! LOL! Valves cost about $8 each. Well woth it~lets water IN but will not let it out!

Just so you know that is actually a really dangerous location to put the pool. It looks like you have lots of chickens and other animals that are Slightly higher than the pool meaning when it rains you will get runoff into the pool.
@gason59 жыл бұрын
XXcreeps, not to worry. The horses are no longer there and also I dug 2 deep swales infront of my fruit trees to catch that runoff rainwater to feed those trees. We've had some big rainfalls this past year and none of it has entered the pool. Good point though, normally that would not be safe.

It is interesting how it seems most of the how to build a pond videos on ytube are created by people who have never built a pond before. Even more intriguing are the number of people asking them for advice. The quality of a pond will not become evident until ~ 10 years later when it has avoided leaking or being choked with weeds. The 10 year mark is when we start to hear from people needing to restore their habitat.

@Joshua79C7 жыл бұрын
There are plenty of resources out there, a guidebook by Total Habitat, a few other companies as well (BioTop and BioNova), then there is David Pagan Butler who also did a DIY series showing each step in more detail. As for snakes and such, unless there is food source for them there, they won't hand around for long and there are those you can call upon to remove and relocate them if they do hang around. They can be built in any location, and since many of the plants are regenerative its fine if you build in a cold climate where the water freezes over, so long as you got a reliable pump system the water should thrive even in the cold months as long as the water keeps getting pumped.
@kingbucky67 жыл бұрын
Are you able to keep fish in it ?

There are fish that feed on certain algae, they would benefit in an NSP to keep that growth in check.

what is the name of lining?or lenoleum?
@gason57 жыл бұрын
The one I used here was a PPL24
@Joshua79C7 жыл бұрын
Lenoleum is too rigid to use as a pool liner and not made for that use either. For how to there is a Guide Book by Total Habitat and there are some useful videos by David Pagan Butler showing the steps. Best to use a non porous EPDM or other Rubber or even other solid yet flexible liner they use on farms, look up retention pond liners. Polypropylene is another but it only has a 20 year life at best, and any liner really has certain useful life before it needs to be replace thus the NSP will be getting rebuilt, or removed all together if something better and healthier comes along.

When Jesus said in the bible: "I'm ascending to my God and your God" What does he mean? * a).He is ascending to himself because according to the paul in church jesus is God. b).He is ascending to the true God because he is not God but a man who worship God. c).Both of the above. David, Suleiman and the other messengers of God are called "son of God" in the bible: So it means all of them are God in case someone believes that jesus was God, so do the others? * a).They are not God, nor jesus. Because son of God is an inspiration word used for respect etc. b).Yes all of them were God. c).If we call jesus "son of God" it means that: he is a special son of God (begotten) Jesus did not have a father and is this reason good enough to make him a special son of God? * a).Yes it is. b).No it is not enough to call someone a special "son of God" and worship him because Adam also didn't have a father nor a mother but we don't worship him because of this reason. c).I still believe jesus is God and i worship him. 👇 kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnTYqaGrlK56i80

Thank you for commenting and sorry for the late reply. Interesting you mention about worshiping God. Just this week I noticed something interesting in the New Testament about this topic; Jesus is asked, Good Master and he is quick to reply, none are good, but God. Later after His resurrection, there are 3 instances where his disciples worshiped him and he did not correct or stop them. Check out Matt 28:9 and Luke 24:52. Love to hear your thoughts.

+Ian Paul I had a bottom plate attached to the cedar wall and each panel was secured to the one next to it so, as I backfilled, the gravel just locked it into place. It was much cheaper than other options and I like the look of it as well.
