Tutorial video on how to setup the UDS for Age of Air and Air Exchange Effectiveness calculation in ANSYS FLUENT. The tutorial also covers how to compile UDF source code with FLUENT.
To successfully setup the UDF compilation (to avoid Error LNK1104: cannot open file 'kernel32.lib'):
1. Install Microsoft Visual Studio with SDK.
2. Add the followings in the system environment variables:
(i) environment variable "path":
(a) C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\bin
(b) C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Lib\10.0.19041.0\um\x64\kernel32.Lib
(ii) environment variable "include":
(a) C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Include
(iii) environment variable "lib":
(a) C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Lib

Great video again from VINCENT CFD. If you calculate the volume flow rate between the inlet ventilation and outlet ventilation, it would be very interesting to see.

Is there a way to have fluent output the air exchange effectiveness value rather than having to use a separate calculator program? I would like to make a contour plot that shows air exchange effectiveness. Right now I am only able to make a contour plot that shows age of air.

Why did you include the UDS, after the velocity at the outlet, converged? Does it not work if you include the UDS from the start? Thank you

In our work, the density is constant. So the source of mean air age will be constant everywhere. Kindly explain..

@@vincentcfd9806 Hi Vincent, if I wanna evaluate the indoor thermal comfort and I've measured heat flux through the louvers. Should I define the window louver as solid domain? Any suggestions will be appreciated:)

Hi, to extract the heat flux information through the louvers, you will need to define the rate of heat transfer at the louvers. In Fluent, go to "Results" -> "Reports" -> double click on "Surface Integrals", then in the pop up window, choose "Flow Rate" for "Report Type", choose "Temperature" for "Field Variable", and select "Enthalpy" from the dropdown list underneath it, and select the surfaces of the louvers that you want to study. Then divide the rate of heat transfer (W) with the surface area of the louver (m^2) to get heat flux.
