About 40 years ago, I ate grasshoppers, maybe 5 of them. it tasted very good with their eggs in it. Of course at that time the Khmer Rouge starved us to dead. Million of people were starved to dead and I was just a little kid and ate almost anything to survive or because i was so hungry My body has no meat, but a skeleton. I saw my brother's eye sockets were like one inch deep into the skull, and I think mine was the same because no food for almost the whole year, for 2 1/2 years. People started eating it back then, and continue to eat it up to now. Before the Khmer Rouge took over Cambodia in 1975, no body eat thing like this; they would say yakee. After they ate it, now they say yummy.

We eat grasshoppers a lot in México. It is very common and you could find heaps of them almost anywhere! Sometimes I would catch them and then toast them, after that I would add salt and lemon. For those wondering what it tastes like: It leaves a very flavorful kinda juice once you chew on them and it has a bit of spiciness to it. Not sure how to describe it. It makes your mouth water a lot. And also : fun fact grasshoppers contain more protein than steak!! Edit: Kinda tastes like pickles, but without the disgusting part of it haha.

I won't judge any other people, culture or religion. I'll give everything a fair chance. In America we can be so fickle when it comes to food found outside of the states. We also turn our nose up at almost anything that seems taboo or disgusting. I won't assume something before I try it myself. Though I will say yeah how in the hell did she catch so many grasshoppers lol? Many blessings to you. Just to edit some of you made some comments and yes she is a really cute young lady!

Fun fact: Patunga grasshopper is an alien invader in Thai ecosystem, they're not native. ~43 years ago the immense plague of locusts swarmed in from Cambodia and started annihilating Thai crops. A lot of measurements were brought up against and most of them failed until some one got a bright idea of catching and selling the locusts themselves as food for even more benefit than the crop itself. Fried Patunga was invented for human food that time, people were happy with new dish and the crop issues were gone, it was a win-win.
