Your flowers and bouquets are beautiful!! I see your just doing stem counts. Are you just doing a set price for all bouquets or are they priced based on content? Have you ever watched Bloom & Gray? She makes these fabulous bouquets and uses ribbons. Thanks
@NaturallyBrittany
@NaturallyBrittany 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I’ve really enjoyed my first year flower farming. 😊 As to pricing my market bouquets- I try and keep the majority of them all one price. Currently I’ve been doing $25 wrapped bouquets, and then with the shorter stems I’m putting them in a jam jar with a ribbon for $15. When I’ve got stems that would sell for a little more- or a little less- I either take the bouquets down to $20, or have a few pass stems. Like this week, I’ve got lilies blooming. Each lily stem has 3-5 blooms. So these would be a little bit more spendy and I’ll have a few less stems total. I hope that makes sense! And yes I have watched her channel and I love it! She does such a great job, and her stand is such a great setup. It’s so nice to see how everyone is farming flowers across the world. And I love how she does her ribbons too!

They really do help to keep the flowers fresh! Especially during the hot summer markets. I actually use piping bags and trim the tops off about 2". I have found the best pricing & quality on Amazon. These are the ones I use: amzn.to/3Pk8sH2 They're under $0.10 a bag, and have worked great for me! Hope that helps

@@NaturallyBrittany Thank you soo much for responding. Yes it does help us beginners when you take the time out to name the specific plants. I’m looking for all the help I can get from KZbinrs who have the same interest as me. I tried winter sowing for the first time . Had a lot of success. Decided to try seeding indoors this year. I’m in a panic. Not sure when to sow the seeds. Please help! I’ve learned that I’m in Zone 8. Alabama. The seeds I have: snapdragon, sunflowers, zinnias, dahlias, Amaranth, celosia, gomphrena, Dara.

Beautiful cut flowers! Can i ask about foxgloves? I’ll love to pick mine to bring inside in a vase but i hear so many horror stories about how toxic they are even to touch! Is this true? This was my first year growing them in my garden and they were so beautiful! Are they a risk for a bouquet or is it only toxic if eaten, like say a cat or dog? I will say a bunny created a nest under my foxgloves and she had 7 babies who all survived so there’s that, lol. Any information from chat would be wonderful!

How do you keep the flowers fresh while at the farmer's market? I've been thinking about taking arrangements to our local market but I worry about them in the heat.
@NaturallyBrittany
@NaturallyBrittany Жыл бұрын
I think my main tips are- keeping them under cover with a shade tent, having water bags attached so they always have plenty of water, and when it's really hot I would actually put a couple ice cubes in the bags! We also brought lemonade to our markets so we had plenty of ice to share with the flowers. ;)

Your flowers are so pretty, but the focal flowers get lost and it looks a tad confusing to me as a designer. Amazing job growing them, though!
@NaturallyBrittany
@NaturallyBrittany Жыл бұрын
Well thank you! I love growing. :) Making up market bouquets is definitely a different animal than design. It's more about the speed and efficiency, because people will likely be arranging them at home themselves. Your more so arranging them to look nice with your paper style to grab eyes as people walk by at the market. Also the price point is quite different than design work- so it's got to be quick. What sort of design work do you do?

I’ve been watching a lot of tutorials and I can say that it wouldn’t hurt you to have a color wheel and reference it as well as a European spiral technique because it just seems so messy on that white and purple bouquet. It just didn’t have any harmony or flow at least not to my eyes.

First impression re first bouquet. Awful combination, the glads are totally random, mixed with fall fillers. I’d like to see some more small sunflowers on the right to balance. I usually place filler at end, not first and rotate as I hand place. Not impressed. Second bouquet not balanced either. I depend on market flowers so hard to mixed bouquets, but these are just awful IMO
@NaturallyBrittany
@NaturallyBrittany 3 жыл бұрын
You’re my first ever negative critique! 🙈😆 Thank you so much for your honesty. Please keep in mind that I’m putting together bouquets for the farmers market, with a pretty low price point per stem, and I’m working with product that has been selected for me based on what I’ve got blooming this week. It’s a real challenge to make it all stretch to this many bouquets! A question for you- as I’m assuming you’ve got much more experience than me! Do you think I should be doing a front facing bouquet style for market bouquets? Or placing each flower and rotating? So far I’ve been trying to create a ‘front’ but maybe a round would be better. I know you haven’t been a fan so far- but I do appreciate your pointers if you do continue to watch my flower videos!

@@NaturallyBrittany I think your bouquets are gorgeous and apparently, you’ve been selling to those who enjoy your them! I’m new to flower farming, but I sold bouquets during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays at my local supermarket in 2021 on consignment. I think the ones that did the best were more uniform throughout the bouquet. I used about 3 focal flowers, 3 smaller disk flowers I had bought and a bunch of fillers/foliage from my garden. It’s tough when you work on a budget. My ROI (return on investment) was on average 75%, but it took hours to buy, process, arrange, and maintain the flowers at the market. Anywho, I’m a new subscriber and would like to start at a Farmer’s Market this year. Thanks for sharing your journey!

um, this comment was unnecessarily rude and classless. this is clearly someone who is envious of your lifestyle and instead of complimenting and POSSIBLY adding in a tip/trick, they decided to attempt to insult your craft and tear you down. brittany, you do not owe these individuals anything. even though it wasn’t warranted, you took time to reply and of course, you were so much more professional; and just as i thought, they couldn’t even take the time to respond, even something simple & to the point. as i mentioned, this is because their original comment was trash talk and they clearly have no clue what they’re doing.
