DETAILED | How to Trim Your Own Natural Hair | DIY Deva Cut and Trim

Hi Curl Friends! So I tried somethings new, I gave myself a curly cut at home! Growing out this taper cut has been a real challenge for me. The most challenging part are the unsides and back. My top way longer than my sides. Since salons are closed due to COVID-19, I decided to risk it all and cut my own hair. Now I'm saying cut, but this is more like
a trim and shape up.
For full transparency, I used a pair of home scissors, not cutting shears. I DO NOT recommend this. If you need shears, please shop my Amazon store front. I found a great pair of shears.
I know this cut seems small, but it made a huge difference in my overall
shape and most importantly, my curls are out of my face. I'm definitely going to cut more, this is just the beginning. When we get out of quarantine, I'm cutting several inches off.

I went for a "shaping" to a Deva Salon with my hair freshly washed and product free It was a disaster!!! I never ever wear wash and goes, EVER!, and I made that perfectly clear to my stylist I have fine, tight, 4C hair that shrinks like nobody's business, therefore I ALWAYS have to twist out and stretch my hair I suggested, before I went, that I come in with it twisted out, because that's how I wear it. They insisted that I come in with it in its naturally shrunken state Needless to say, I was devastated!😫 I ended up with half of my hair gone! When I twisted it out, my length was gone Just my opinion, but, I believe that if you don't wear wash and goes, you should go in with your hair the way you actually wear it

Excellent point!! This does not give me faith in some of these curly hair salons. I don't believe they understand all curly hair types. Who knows their hair best.....the client!

Wait this happened to me! Lol similar hair texture and she cut it in its natural state. Went to do a twist out and realized, because of my texture, that she had cut off so much. She responded “oh wow, your hair shrinks a lot!” It’s funny now but boy was I devastated. I’ve had better experiences since but I’m still so hesitant

@@brittanym.greene871 I haven't been back since! I keep my ends trimmed and allow my "slow growing" hair to flourish I have to "fake" a shape, so it looks as though it's cut in a style But I wish I could find a stylist who truly "gets it" 🤦🏾‍♀️
