For whoever is complaining the parent Dove didn’t do anything- I live in Arizona and we have a lot of Eurasian collared as well as mourning doves around. And they are NOT tough birds, they’re fragile and no match for even a small hawk. It’s like the African Savannah when an Impala gives up her baby to Lions to run away and live another day and reproduce again

What a brave dad! He attacked the hawk, but unfortunately late! I'm saying dad, because male doves are more aggressive. I say this from my experience, when a crow attacked the dove's nest in my window, the dad, who had the day shift opened the wings and resisted to the crow attack. While in another attack, when it was the mother's shift, she flew immediately, without resisting. It was me who protected the eggs.

I'm trying to figure out how it killed them too. that first one was a pretty clear shot, but I couldn't tell how the hawk killed it. when the hawk started to feed, though, the nestling seemed dead already.

Estás cometiendo el grave error de juzgar la cadena alimenticia desde un punto de vista emocional. Y las cosas no funcionan así. Es muy probable que tú amenudo comas vacas, cerdos, pollos, etc. Pero por ello la no te pones a llorar. Además si el halcón no caza puede morir de hambre, lo cual no es mucho mejor que morir siendo devorada. Y por último, si no fuera por ese halcón habría una plaga de pichones, los cuales podría hasta convertirse en un problema para nosotros los humanos, incluyendo contagiarnos de enfermedades.
