Why channel like this get so little recognition? I truly appreciate your effort to make us aware of new perspectives on parasites and hope your team will continue doing this in the future

I hope that someday we make more decisions from this level of awareness. She summed it up well at the end, parasites are part of ecodiversity, the system runs on relationships between organisms and environment in a ludicrously complex dance.

subject dear to my heart, riddled from prehistoric parasites collected from all over the world, we all host the land and our own bodies for all, and there is no simple easy experience, its going to take everyone, all the time, our whole lives, to cultivate very delicate biodiversities and enjoy the rewilding, you work at it till ya die

I don't get it. In few words, why do we need parasites?

@@chrisrus1965 Some ecosystems are extremely specialized, one requires the other to exist, if one of those animals goes extinct (some of those being parasites) it could cause a chain reaction which destroys the entire ecosystem, the video goes more in depth

Really a terrific video. Love the use of stock footage and the cinematography was great. Pretty bummed for the complex parasites

an interesting video which I hesitate to agree with on a subjective level, but objectively now understand the use of haha

Toxoplasma Gondii. 1/3 of humanity shares their body with this parasite. If you're not showing symptoms and not pregnant/immunocompromised, the parasite has no ill effects, however it does have measurable effects on our behavior.

Parasite and predators may be good for 'ecosystems' but are usually terrible for the individual animals/humans. The hosts (like 5:27) even die... It is a bit like saying that H&M is necessary to keep Bangladeshi society colourful.

Ever hear the story about the successful business man who destroyed his neighbors mail boxes so they'd hire him to put up a new one? He did that when he was a teenager.

I think the gap that is left by more specified parasites is partially filled by ones much more annoying and dangerous to human population such as mosquitos f.e. that conquer the space we basically culture for them. How big of an impact some invasive mammals, reptiles, invertebrates or plants can have on an ecosystem makes me think about how parasitic life might have even bigger ones we didnt yet unravel 🤔
