Many of the visitors don't venture beyond the downtown district or the main attractions there, which is a shame. This ride will take you to places that truly deserve to be seen & away from the crowds. The Island has a magical ambience all it's own.

You're so right! Much of the island is uninhabited and loaded with beautiful views, hiking/biking trails, caves and rock formations. You can really feel like you have the island to yourself. Worth exploring for sure!

It’s amazing how so many of us with take vacations to places that are walkable (European cities) or bike/people centric and then fight against any improvements in the places where they live. It doesn’t compute that this could be their everyday life.

As a kid I loved coming here and enjoying the beautiful views and just taking it all in. Only living 4 hours I can finally drive myself up there and explore the whole island at midnight something that Ive always wanted to do lol.

Love that. Whether it's noon or midnight, it's something special. There really is something a little different about nighttime on the Island though. Feels like it's all yours! Riding back on the trails, using the moon as a guide and then losing said moon to the canopy of trees, it's a blast!

I love going to Mackinac. So much fun. I usually just go straight out of town and take my time riding. You need stay at least once over night. We did and there was virtually no one on the island when we biked. Make sure to have headlight. 😂

They sure have! The waves ate away large sections of the shoreline and bike path a couple years ago so they did extensive reconstruction of the shoreline to reinforce it for the long haul. Thanks for watching! 🚲✌

Mackinac Island is an island and resort area, covering 4.35 square miles in land area, in the U.S. state of Michigan. The name of the island in Odawa is Michilimackinac and "Mitchimakinak" in Ojibwemowin meaning "Great Turtle". It is located in Lake Huron, at the eastern end of the Straits of Mackinac, between the state's Upper and Lower Peninsulas. The island was long home to an Odawa settlement and previous indigenous cultures before European colonization began in the 17th century. It was a strategic center of the fur trade around the Great Lakes. Based on a former trading post, Fort Mackinac was constructed on the island by the British during the American Revolutionary War. It was the site of two battles during the War of 1812 before the northern border was settled and the US gained this island in its territory.

38 minutes and 34 seconds. This is of course without stopping. It's 8.2 miles around and mostly flat so you can cruise pretty good but it's always fun to stop and see some of the sights along the way. I'd budget an hour and a half or two for this activity.

Biking with children which direction do you recommend, clockwise or counterclock?
@natureharmonytv2 жыл бұрын
Most people bike around counterclockwise, so sometimes I like to go clockwise. There is more to see in the first 4 miles going clockwise to the halfway point of British Landing (Devil's Kitchen, Mackinac Bridge, Brown's Brook) but it really doesn't matter either way. They are both beautiful views!
