In this video, I'll be showing how to apply 4-way stretch carpet to the inside of a van or camper to get a neat, professional finish. Covering all the metals panels with carpet, cutting round the edges and making it look neat was a real challenge but was very rewarding when it was all finished!

I carpeted the right side of the van first, and then the left side. Using Trimfix high temperature contact adhesive and plenty of sharp Stanley knife blades, I took my time glueing the carpet down and trimming it round the edge seals.
I used smoke coloured 4 way stretch carpet which is available in 1.4m and 2m lengths. I had to use the 1.4m, despite the NV200 being a small panel van, as the 1.4m would not have been long enough when the contours of the van had been taken into account.
The carpet stuck really well when I glued it over the Thermawrap bubblewrap insulation I had installed in my previous videos. By removing all of the fixtures, fittings and seatbelts before carpeting, I was able to tuck the carpet under and them and get a very clean, tidy and neat finish to the van carpet.
I hoped you enjoyed this next step in my Nissan NV200 camper van conversion.

Two things I have found really useful while doing the 4 way stretch in my van have been a couple of fairly strong magnets and a box of drawing pins. Both are like another pair of hands depending on what your carpeting

Beautiful job. I just bought a 2015 Nissan NV 200 and would love to do the same. However I’m not a handyman and have very little patience lol So I’d hire someone to do this but I don’t know of anyone in my area who could do that.

I just purchased a Nissan NV200 and I plan to do exactly the same thing you did with your interior. And I plan to do it because I was very impressed with the results that you got. But I live in Japan and getting materials to either more difficult or more difficult, and often both. So my life would be so much easier if you could tell me how many yards/meters of that of the 2m 4-way stretch material you used. I’m guessing either 5 or 6m. Perhaps 6 bc you probably too the material for the roof ribs from the end. Same help would be appreciated for the reflective foam, although I am having a real problem finding a place that has it in stock AND will ship internationally. Back to watching your videos. I’m sure you know I find these extremely helpful.

hi first say i love the work you are doing with that nv200 looks great. But I have a question, when you put that carpet you do not have the concern that with the condensation mold will be generated in it? In other conventions, they are very careful to use water resistant materials to avoid that, I do not know if you have taken it into consideration.
@LensOfJames
@LensOfJames 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, condensation was most definitely taken into consideration. I had stayed overnight in the van many times prior to carpeting and so know where condensation forms. I added insulation in those areas before carpeting so that it won't be a problem. Also, please bear in mind that I only use the van as a camper for a few weeks each year, so it isn't constantly exposed to condensation.

@@LensOfJames Thank you for answering me, I want to camper my Citroën Berlingo but on the issue of insulation, ventilation and condensation I find contradictory information, I suppose because of the difference between people who live in vans and those who use them some weekends as I intend. Perhaps the best thing is to do what you have done, go for a weekend with the bed furniture (which is the only thing I have made, and see what happens. Thank you very much.
