Inspired by the views of the Wash during BBC Winterwatch 2023 we visited The Wash NNR and RSPB Snettisham during February half term.
We went on some fantastic walks, and I hope you enjoy seeing what we saw along the way.
I was really keen to see Curlews for the first time, and we weren't disappointed - these amazing birds are in decline, so these protected areas are really important.
We also saw the lighthouse where Sir Peter Scott used to live. The son of the Antarctic explorer, Robert Scott, he became the most amazing conservationist founding the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, the World Wide Fund for Nature and playing an important in protecting many species. He helped setup the IUCN Red List, was instrumental in the moratorium on whale hunting and even won a Bronze medal at the Olympics!
We saw lots of waders, seals and water birds. It was an amazing visit and I'll be back to see it during high tide!
