Lived in Alaska for 35 yrs. This is really good. I feel likeI'm back in my cabin, woodstove cookin' , pot of water keeping humidity in the room, the weight of quilts on top of you. Your favorite pillow, every once in awhile the soft snore of one of the dogs . A moose leaning on the cabin, then scratching his shoulder. He's using the building to block the wind. And then a limb might rub against the window. And a little peak from the full moon comes out from the clouds, and disappears again. It's a busy night, this snow storm, but its all good. If it gets too cold, when the stove starts to slow down, make sure you got your snow cap and a scarf to wrap around your neck, gives you that more snuggly feel.

I'm smiling. I was born in mid-north eastern Wisconsin. We lived in a 2-story farmhouse. How well I remember the blizzards! I wrote a poem called Wintry Night. Can you believe we only had single pane windows and basically no insulation? We found they had stuck newspapers in parts of the walls, otherwise nothing but wires and pipes. Yes, we wore our knitted caps to bed. Mom had hot rocks wrapped in towels from the cook stove in our beds. Those were the days! I'll tell you one thing, you were good to your neighbors, because we all needed help to make it in those days. One blizzard left snow drifted up to the 2nd story! Opened the kitchen door and nothing but solid snow. Good thing mom had a stack of wood inside by the stove because we couldn't get to the load piled on the porch. We kept a rope strung between the house and the barn in case it got bad during milking time, so the hired hands could find their way to the house. Yep, those are my memories... we just toughened up and claimed our ancestors' power to survive - Scandinavians don't complain, we survive! Right? I think they invented the phrase, "The tough get tougher." My maternal great-grand parents came from Norway by ship in the later 1800's. Free land! They settled in northern Minnesota. Burrr. Tough country. They fell the trees and made their own lumber to build houses and barns. The Indians would suddenly walk in the house, and my grandmother motioned for them to sit down and she would feed them. They never hurt the women, stole or burned, and I think it was my Grandma's good cooking and smile - hospitality can get you a long way in this world. May God bless us all with His power and protection.

I adore the sound of a howling blizzard. To me it means peace. And it's so cold outdoor's that you know everyone is home or inside somewhere warm and snug. God is covering the earth with His love in a pure white soft and fluffy blanket of snow. We have enough food and the world is good. God's got this.

When I was a kid some 70 yrs ago, thot the same. But now, there are so many homeless people. When I hear the howling, I huddle beneath my blanket & give thanks for the privilege of comfort. And when we have storm warnings, I inquire of my neighbors in the community to make sure they have heat, food, water etc to get thru. (I live in a rural area with few if any homeless.

Yeah you probably could delete some of your old video and re-release them with new visuals. @@kirktaylor262 Hi there. It always surprises me when I find out that there are other people out there who struggle like I do. I understand others struggle with depression, anxiety, panic etc but I beat myself up so much I see myself as less than, a burden, a piece of s**t and see others as people who've got their lives together. I simply wanted to tell you that you are not alone. I have been outside of my house 2 or 3 times and gone for a ride in the Jeep once since December. I do have days that are better than others, meaning I feel hopeful and not so sad or ashamed, but leaving the house is an entirely different thing. I am lucky to have a family and loved ones but they do not understand. I've seen many doctors, tried endless medications, psychiatric facilities but that can be difficult to maintain when you can't leave the house for an appointment let alone food and other essentials for life. I'm not writing this to bring you down but I don't want to sugar coat how hard and overwhelming it can be. You have to hang on though. Hang on tight. To yourself. A pet. A loved one. Music. Something you enjoy. Pls do not be ashamed to ask for help. The stigma towards mental health is absolute cra! You, me and anyone else who struggles like we do deserves to live a happy life as much as anyone else. I have had days, weeks, months that made my head spin because I was so full of joy. Highs and lows. You can get better. Get out of your bed. Off of the couch. Eat. Shower. I have to force myself and when I do I always feel better. No matter what DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOURSELF! YO HAVE VALUE AND WORTH! Good luck my friend

I remember being a little girl and laying in bed back in Fort Richardson JBER Alaska. I remember the Christmas window light my mom stuck in the window during December. I remeber hearing the howling and whistling of the wind. I remember the even with the wind the quietness the snow would provide. I remember with all of it combined, It would lower me to sleep. A deep sleep. This is the sound of that memory. Its hard to find audios that match with that calming memory since i left Alaska but this one just does.
