Learn German with the natural method and comprehensible easy German!
In the classroom we are told to endlessly study grammar and memorise concepts, however, research shows that language is acquired through authentic experiences. The concept of Natürlich German is based on Dr. Stephen Krashen's second language acquisition theory, in which one uses comprehensible input to acquire a language, rather than 'learn' it.

Yeah, when we went to Frankfurt a few years ago, I was surprised that they didn't offer any water in restaurants. In the USA water is always free in restaurants (at least in the state we live). Probably it will look strange if you try to buy water in a restaurant, unless you want some kind of fancy water in a bottle.

Wow que interesante. Lo más raro para mi fue lo del agua en el restaurante.

When I was in Germany in the 80s I remember seeing a sign at a waschbecken, " kein zahnputzwasser" . I figured out what it meant, but figured they really meant " not tap water". Another time ( 10 years later) my new wife and I were in Germany in urlaub, and she didn't like mineralwasser, so I was asking for water from the faucet, and she gave the same "strange look", you want " Wasser aus wasserhahn?"

The water thing got me thinking that I do live in a normal country where it's normal not to pay for every breath you take.

OK, I didn't get the birthday explanation. I have personal experience with being charged several Euros for a glass of tap water in a restaurant. I was surprised.

I love your channel and watch every video as soon as you upload. I have a bit of helpful feedback. Whenever you introduce a new word or a word that might be unknown and require looking up, it would be great if you wrote its English meaning on the board, so that one doesn't have to pause and look up the word.

I think the point is to use no English, even to look it up

Thanks so much for your kind words and thank you for your feedback! There is a reason why I don't use translations or indeed write in my videos. In a nutshell, the aim is to connect the concept of a word directly to the German word and not to use direct translations. It's beneficial to learn the word by hearing it over and over again in different contexts.

@@naturlichgerman2021 Thanks for the reply. I understand. But I hope sometimes you can pause and explain a new word still in German, for eg. if you say 'heute', so for that 'dieser tag, nicht gestern, nicht morgen, heute'. I often lose the context if I don't know a word and have no other option but to pause and look it up. Looking forward to your new videos. Thanks!
