I've put together all the major (and weird) differences between German & British homes. Most of the time my British friends tend to look very confused when I tell them about some of these things in German households. Viel Spaß!

Learn German the natural way with comprehensible easy German!
In the classroom we are told to endlessly study grammar and memorise concepts, however, research shows that language is acquired through authentic experiences. The concept of Natürlich German is based on Dr. Stephen Krashen's second language acquisition theory, in which one uses comprehensible input to acquire a language, rather than 'learn' it.

Thanks Anne for another fun video. This is not about houses but I would like to mention another difference between two countries. Here in Germany, pedestrians dont wave to the drivers when they cross the zebra, they just walk away without even giving a glance! Thanks:)

Great teaching style. One absorbs naturally without thinking about it.

omg the taps!! i remember as a kid feeling like an expert chemist getting the perfect ratio of hot and cold water for baths and stuff becuase there was no 'warm' option 😭😂 it's truly an art to master. although luckily new builds have the all-in-one swivel taps.

Anna, that’s great. You might put Duolingo out of business. You tie my German vocabulary together. I might be able to say something sensible to a German now!

I would just like to say that more modern houses in the U.K. also tend to have mixer taps in the bathroom and kitchen, and many of the toilets with handle or chain flushers are now being replaced with button flushers. The biggest difference I find with British and continental bathrooms is that many bathrooms on the continent have bidets. I have no idea why U.K. bathrooms don’t. Personally I think they’re a wonderful idea. Regarding washing machines, wealthier people sometimes put their washing machines and dryers into a utility room. Sometimes British houses have blinds, but they are usually not the same kind as those found in many European countries. They’re usually flimsier and certainly don’t block out all the light. Curtains are generally more commonplace though.
