Vincent ji, you are correct, the song is a swarajathi composed by shri Shyama Shastri one of the carnatic music trinity. Also , this swarajathi is one of a trio, the other 2 being: amba kamakshi in raag yadukulakhambhodhi, and the other being himagiri Kumari in raag todi.

kumar divyam in Bharatnatyam there is never any lip syncing, hema malini does Kuchipudi and calls it Bharatnatyam, the costume hardly differs except the head gear, so its hard to differentiate for a layman, VyjayanthiMala and Meenakshi Sheshadri were by far the best classical Indian dancers, rest all are Bollywood dancers who does semi classical and calls it pure classical

I see many posting comments about Hema ji's dance being really average and not sitting in a proper aramandi.. Well in my opinion she has done a wonderful job for her age at the time of shooting Noopur, 1990s..At that time she would have been 42 or so.. At that age some women find it hard to bend as much as they did once long ago.. Plus her style of Bharatanatyam is quite dated so I feel modern day dancers criticizing Hema ji this way is quite unfair. Plus I have personally seen dance students criticize famous dancing stars for little things that even they don't do properly. I know many may come at me telling me about dancers like Vyjayantimala and Padmini. Yes, we have had legends, who were born to dance and set great standards, but why compare? Each one was beautiful in their own way. I have always admired Hema Ji and always will.

I remember Saroj ji saying this about her. Her body language was like a Bharatnatyam dancer so she had to make it lose for Bollywood dancing. Vaijyanti mam never did typical Bollywood dance. So it is like that. But we should be happy that Hema ji is still practicing it and making it popular around the world.

Madam Hema Malini has commercialized the dance form a lot beyond it should have been .The quality of the song 's very poor. It's not sharp. Its breaking si much.
