Naughty Bear | The Forgotten Franchise

Naughty Bear is perhaps one of the most unique gaming franchises of the early 2010's. Naughty Bear and it's sequel Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise were both developed by Behavior Interactive, the very same studio that created Dead By Daylight. Naughty Bear borrows elements from many horror and slasher movies and media. Does this franchise deserve recognition for delivering a unique concept? Or should it remain forgotten?

I'd expect Clown to get a skin for him. People still seem to want Naughty Bear judging by their recent Twitter post. But Clown having Mr. Puddles and the chicken, a bear costume would keep with his theme.

There’s actually a interview I read on noisy pixel in 2018 about one of the people who worked on naughty bear and in the interview it says “you probably haven’t heard the last of naughty bear because it’s a IP we own and we had an external publisher for it, but the ip is still ours. It didn’t get in as many hands as we’d like, but the wiki for the game is surprisingly still very active. There are still a few hidden things in naughty bear that have not been found”

Ahhhhhh Naughty Bear, the original Friday the 13th game before that game before it became a reality. I still love this game and it's sequel a lot, it really shocked me to know that dead by daylight one of the best horror themed multiplayer games ever is related to this silly dark game back then.

This game pops up in my head from time to time I bought the gold edition of the game and played it a whole lot. It was hard to talk about the game because almost nobody heard about it. Very fun and recommend it to this day!

I mean they added a naughty Bear charm in Dead by daylight which you can equip so they do still have him in their as well to look at. So that definitely means they haven't forgotten about him. Also they mentioned him in the 5th year anniversary stream before revealing the Resident evil chapter.

Panic in Paradise actually did get a physical release! It’s called Naughty Bear: Double Trouble, which has all the stuff from Naughty Bear: Gold Edition, plus Panic in Paradise and its DLC. It also (kinda expectedly) resuses the exact same cover from Naughty Bear: Gold Edition, just adding a picture for Panic in Paradise in the top left area.

I genuinely love naughty bear. My mum bought it for me as a surprise and she had clearly been bamboozled by an employee because she thought it was a nice game full of rainbows and smiles and was horrified to find out what it actually was when she saw me and my brothers playing it. She saw the funny side of the story though.

This game is my childhood. For someone who has played the original and panic in paradise I can agree the controls and camera are very bad at time especially when you use fast characters like the ninja bear or unibear costumes. But that didnt stop me from enjoying this nostalgic game for me ^^

It is curiosly hard to find any video talking about some of the best features this game offered. We were able to hide among those bears and even make a horror movie without participating to it. I used to love murdering only a bear or two and mading half of the others go crazy. After I was letting the others run to the boat, car and phone to call for help while I was dressed as a police officer. So those bear came back to the island, but couldn't tell which cop I was so they were afraid of them. While I was only hiding in bushes for some time and letting them go. I remember those police bear officer coming to the island to discover a bear was grilled to a barbecue and realizing the only bears they saw was running away from them and after a bit of searching they were being attacked by the locals. One cop dies from his injuries and the others run away and hide themselves in a house while the locals take the revolver and proceeds to search and kill every police officer they originally called for help. I could play inside a level for hours at this point and just enjoying the show and making some cameo of myself for a second or two to make those bears scared to death or travel for some time with the police (they didn't realize who I was so I could walk freely among them and only the locals knew) and trying to save them from some attacks. This is one example of why I think this game was absolutely amazing and I've never ever came across anybody on youtube who seems to even know this was possible, because you had to play for some time to discover these mechanics by yourself, but replayability was infinite at this point and soo good. Maybe the fact this was kinda hidden was bad for critics purposes (I'm absolutely sure none of them played enough to realize it), but as a gameplay perspective it was so cool to discover you could totally make some bears go against each others. Some times it could get messy like zombears episodes, where I would create 3 different "teams" from locals vs army vs zombears dressed as a soldier or a local. At this point you could switch this little perfect island as a total warzone of murders and suicide making every new bear coming to the island stressed as hell and the score points going to space while the camera was always active because too much happened hahaha. We could also play with the crazyness of those bears to make them afraid, but only crazy while they encountered other bears attacking them or something and that impacted how the others reacted to them from both "sides". Panic in paradise made all of this even bigger and better with more "teams" we were able to create and a larger map for them to rally everyone and attack zones of the map to restore peace and kill Naughty... while I wasn't even there at the first place hahaha Ah good old times..

I'm not surprised that you didn't talk about the iPhone release of naughty bear it was also released in 2010 but was nothing like the console game, instead being a pac man clone where you collect cupcakes to beat levels the power pellets were instead random weapons which you could use to kill the bears with, occasionally activating one of the special context kills although it did retain aspects of the console game like hiding in bushes and setting up distractions for context kills it was a strange blend, but a pretty decent game overall

This game franchise is incredible. Sad that critics slayed it and it didn't sell well. It's very hilarious and unique. I think if they made a sequel to Naughty Bear 2010 and mixed it with some features from PiP, then that could be good. I still think these games are amazing, though. Thanks for acknowledging them.

I had both naughty bear games and a ton of other digital games on my 360 that’s have been completely wiped from digital stores unfortunately I lost all of them because I no longer have my 360 but I still have my old profile so I’m not sure If I buy another 360 if they’ll still be there if I log in. But man I loved panic in paradise so much I unlocked every achievement in that game
