Navajo Grandma uses her Navajo dough from the last video to make náneeskaadi aka Navajo tortillas with coal roasted Anaheim peppers and ribs. You can't miss this! It's going to be mouthwatering!

You're absolutely right, our hands are the best tools! I remember my mother's stories cooking all day for everyone that worked on the farm. They would start at 4 am, end at 8 pm, 365 days...vacations didn't exist...food kept "the hands happy"... nothing fancy, just nutritional and high in calories. Really love your stories!!

My next videos will involve defining myself, a sober one, then excitedly moving towards Grandma shearing a sheep for you all. This is an opener with videos on the weaving loom, rugs, carding and spinning dowel with weaving accessories. Its getting exciting to learn more about Dine' textile. Please watch and learn. Hugs. Grandma needs her own cooking show. Her food looks good. I would like to see a native cooking show cooking up some native food. 😏👍

When I spent some time w my sister on the rez, my sister made the dough but got called away 2 help a relative. I was given the task to finish shaping & cooking the tortilla. I never made tortillas b 4. I did my best wo a rolling pin. My sister came back & serve the beef stew & bread. None of the men would eat it; just looked at it. Until my sister said I made it, then the men became supportive & praised my effort. My nephew called it "home made navajo crackers." I made them too thin & crunchy. My sister told me navajo men won't eat their bread unless its perfectly round. Thats why they were just looking at it. That's the only time I ever cooked on the rez. I get told "too many cooks spoils the pot" go sit down n the living room & wait w the guys. 😆 🤣 😂 😹

Im Navajo and during traveling a job to Utah from Abq, we passed through Shiprock. They stopped to eat at taco bell there, but I went to the roadside stand for a meal just like this. $5 for the naneeskadi & mutton w/ green chile, and a $1 for the root beer soda. Those guys in the truck with me were kicking themselves because it smelled sooooo guuud and i wouldnt share as they already ate at taco bell.

In a Hispanic setting when bbqing majority of the time the women are inside cooking but me I prefer to be outside with my husband & bother in law ,dad uncles etc. just sitting outside talking to them enjoying the outside but I feel awkward not being inside with the woman but I never really liked that setting men outside women inside that mexican-americans seem to take on bc in my small country town in west tx its everyone outside on a nice evening this is a perfect recipe to incorporate to bring the woman in my life outside to not just me thank you for the recipe & inspiration

I am an Ojibwe Potawatomi Kokomis from way up in Obtario, Canada. Since summer is upon us, I am going to give the Navajo bread a try. The Navajo bread reminds me of open over the fire Bannock bread.
