I started playing NA just recently. No DLCs, just basic brig. My first goal is to build a shipyard. Started with sinking some 7th rates to level up and have more crew. Then I easily captured Trader Cutter to add it to my fleet and have more tonnage to make trading viable. I also think about catching Trader Brig, which is also 100 Crew, but it's going to be more of a challenge, while not really necessary, as I yet to have issue with too little tonnage with that Cutter. I'm doing some trading runs along passenger missions, sinking some easy 7th rates along the way for some extra loot, XP and a mission I grabbed, and it's going pretty smooth so far, as I'm about halfway done earning what I need for the shipyard. So yeah, it's perfectly fine to start with the Basic Brig. The game needs you to do some research, but once you are equiped with the knowledge, you can figure out how to progress. Thanks for the videos, they were very helpful in getting started.

IKR, yesterday I almost swore a Loki entered my battle but it might just have been AI. Even shot at my sails

@@ds4629 i was sinking and the ai graped me and was coming close so board, i switched to prep for it(pressed 9) and it pulled away and started balling me to death. was confused as heck :D

@@Kasamplanka it's crazy how the AI improved. 2 years ago I took on groups of 5 on my own and now it's hard to win an even fight

Great series, keep it going please! When you took up the two rennommees, I was like "Wow, brave!" cause I always had big respect to those, even back in the days, cause of their agility. I think, I have to get back to the game as the combat model seems to be "playable" again..😅.

I noticed AI seems to have started using chain sometimes. I've had it happen in the safe zones.

Love these videos, keep them coming. I actually have not even played this game. I started watching these to see if the game interested me. Your videos are making me want to give it a try. I love pvp, but I actually kind of want to start out as a trader first. Is it worth it doing that on a pvp server?

Nice to see I'm not the only one biting off more than I can chew. I was feeling cocky after taking on many 6th rates in my 7th rate then I took on a pickle and got smacked in the HP. This game is humbling, one mistake and an ai or 2 can send you back to the docks.

It's very easy to get yourself sunk by being over-confident in Naval Action. One of the reasons I like the game so much is it always keeps us on our toes.

I hate the fact that they can get your stern armour and structure hp if they hit the edge of your stern while facing your bow, the brig has the most protruding stern and i've noticed that a ton of shots fired in the direction of the bow hit the stern

i used some lokis myself in the last days. and the rank always changed to "midshipman" on the ship i would start sailing in. but im not really sure if the enemy can see the changed rank for himself.

I have been trying different woods with my DLCs and found that sabicu s/sabicu s give me a good all-around speed, hitpoints and armor. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

In watching your combat basics video to figure out prizes.. how do you transfer crew such that you can take a prize? I beat a cutter but could only loot the hold. Is there a difference between boarding and killing the ship then?

You'll need to use the slider to move crew from one ship to the other; it's in the middle above the loot icons. Boarding just means the ship isn't sunk, so you can choose either to take it or sink it after looting.

Medium guns are cheaper than long guns. The latter have better penetration, but I can't craft them yet.

don't sweat about the learning curve buddy, you should see some of horrendous wasteful things i did playing EvE online a space MMO....ooooh boy did i get cocky out of curiosity, literally was in mining ship for whole week to get the money for my first battleship, lost it as soon as, i undocked and headed for my first lvl 4 PVE mission in EvE, now i had the in game character skills to be able to fly it but my character skills just barley allowed me get in the ship but not enough to be able to really get the most out of it.....plus my own actual piloting skills and knowledge of PVE and game was still early and raw and died in PVE cos i did not do my research and tried a level 4 mission and got swarmed by fast frigates with warp scramblers, so i could not get away and my big guns could not track the targets when they that fast and close, i was getting pounded by a whole fleet in the end and that was one event in my long list of fck ups, hahahaha my kill mail list in EvE online (list of my deaths) is shameful hahahaha alas, that was 10 years ago now i'd like to say i never do that anymore but from time to time i still bite of my than i can chew, Tis but a learning experience, can't hate a man for learning. enjoying the series my man, thinking of installing myself but not really playing it to progress in the game but just experience it here and there for time to time..looking forwards to more,.

Apparently AI has been improved to use chain shot. Had Ai use chain shot on me and take out my mast in one of the Tutorial Scenarios xD

Hey Kairos, i would recommend Mahogany (S) over Teak (S), because with Mahogany you have more Armor HP but less Hull HP.

i been using locust s/ sabicu s with my dlc since it seems better plus sabicu s give you more crew

@@kairos468 yea i find it to be a good balance between health, thickness, plus you get some crew and only downs side is speed, btw the meta from what i seen and was told is thickness isnt like its used to now its about hp
